Raytheon Intelligence & Space (RI&S) has an Electrical Engineering/ Electrical Engineering Technology Internship available within our Hardware and Infrastructure (HWI) Production Engineering team. This position is for a student who will work together electrical engineers and other engineering disciplines on a variety of tasks related to the production and repair of military equipment. The ideal candidate should have excellent academic credentials and experience in working in a team environment, as well as excellent interpersonal skills.

Key responsibilities for the qualified candidate include:

  • Key attributes are an inquisitive nature and a thorough desire to learn real world applications that compliment your academic experience. Familiarity with hardware or software tools as appropriate for your academic level is also beneficial. The candidate should be interested in working in a highly motivated team environment, collaborating with a small team of engineers and Operations personnel through the production or repair of military hardware.
Security Clearance & Other Requirements:
  • Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance

  • This position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date

For Multi-Level Intern Requisitions:

  • This position can be a Salary Grade of G02 or G03 based on the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibility requirements for the position.

  • G03 (College Sophomore by Fall 2021) - must have completed 30 hours of college


  • Fundamental engineering skills with a deep interest in Hardware

  • Course work and/or experience related to digital circuits and FPGAs, embedded software, RF/microwave circuits and signal processing

  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written as well as thorough knowledge of all Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Visio, Outlook, and PowerPoint)

  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and apply decision making skills with minimal supervision

  • Ability to work in a process oriented organization

  • Detail oriented, organized, self-starter, multi-tasker and team player are all required skills for this role

Desired Requirements:

  • Prior work or intern experience is highly desirable

  • Ability to read schematics and basic knowledge of reading mechanical drawings

  • Background in RF and power supply theory is a plus

  • Excellent problem solving skills with ability to proactively identify alternate solutions to overcome difficult technical challenges

  • Programming experience with C++, VHDL, Verilog and/or LabVIEW

  • Experience with academic projects and examples of creativity of new and emerging technologies

  • Relevant course work and examples of Technical Writing skills

Required Education:

  • Currently pursuing a BS / BA degree from a four-year university and entering as a college Freshman or Sophomore by Fall 2021. Must be working towards a degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology or a closely related field STEM field. A GPA of 3.0+ is energetically desired. Space Electronics at The Boeing Company's Satellite Development Center in El Segundo, California is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineering Technical Designer with expert level knowledge and experience in electronics, test and automated test system design. Our automated test systems include those designed for testing RF/microwave/millimeter-wave electronics, power electronics, and digital electronics for major commercial and government satellite and ground programs. Units requiring automated test range from single-board computers to switching networks, modems, and microwave electronics used in space-based applications. The person in this position will be responsible for test system architecture definition, hands-on test development and test system design, verification, validation and documentation, as well as providing project management and leadership for less senior personnel. The position will report directly to the Electrical Engineering Manager. This position coordinates with various other engineering and non-engineering teams in order to analyze customer and system requirements to develop basic architectural approaches and detailed specifications for various electronic products. This person will be responsible for maintaining the accuracy and security of their projects while exceeding the industry standard for design creation and protocols. The ideal candidate must demonstrate a passion for identifying and meeting customer needs. Position Responsibilities: * Expert level design and development of state-of-the art electronics for space-based applications * Lead design teams in development activities with cost and project schedule accountability * Development of test system requirements and verification methodologies * Make recommendations for test equipment procurement * Hands-on design, documentation and design leadership of automated test system development projects * Supporting test system proposals and bids * Resolves complex issues on critical programs related to architectural approaches, requirements, specifications and design. * Leads technical aspect of proposal preparation. * Participate in Special Test Equipment (STE) personnel development through mentoring and group presentations * Identifies critical performance measures and develops processes for computing them. * Leads activities in support of Supplier Management with make/buy recommendations and other technical services. * Coordinates engineering support throughout the lifecycle of the product. * Develops new concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements. * Recommends and manages technology insertion. * Works under consultative direction.
