QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen eligible for U.S. Security Clearance

  • ABET Accredited BS/MS in Electrical Engineering

  • 3+ Years Engineering Experience

  • Digital and Microprocessor System Design

  • Low-Power System Design

  • Analog System Design/Simulation

  • Very Small, High-Density Electrical Design

Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to provide clear direction to others and listen actively

  • Ability to work effectively with all individuals within VPI and client organizations

  • Experience working in a team-oriented atmosphere

  • Strong quality orientation including attention to detail, accuracy, and thoroughness

  • High degree of professionalism and maturity with ability to work independently, problem solve, and make decisions with limited supervision

  • Ability to adapt to changes, delays, and unexpected events

  • Exercise good judgment, keeping in mind company policies and procedures

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

  • Experience Developing Consumer Products including preparing Products for Manufacturing

  • Developing Low-Cost, Highly-Robust Systems

  • Experience Meeting Certification Requirements

  • Current U.S. security clearance is preferred

VIEW JOBS 9/14/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-12-13T00:00 Overview We are seeking a Regulatory Compliance Engineer to perform evaluation of designs and testing of a diverse portfolio of products to ensure compliance with applicable EMC/RF/Product Safety worldwide regulatory requirements. This includes pre-testing and final certification testing at 3rd party test labs using best engineering practices to achieve compliance. The qualified candidate will apply their EMC/RF/Product Safety certification expertise and knowledge to help ensure Control4 products achieve and maintain product compliance through conformance to applicable regulatory standards. Uses initiative and drive to provide oversight of projects ensuring compliance to all test requirements through expert use of test methods. Attention to quality, detail, velocity and creativity. May assume additional tasks when they arise. Responsibilities * Work with the engineering team to configure samples for testing, gather documentation (schematics, BOM, block diagram, etc.), send RFQs and POs to test labs * Manage certification schedules with 3rd party labs and internal development teams. Coordinate EMC/RF/Product Safety certification testing of company products targeted for domestic and international markets * Ensure project schedule is on track and within projected deadlines and relay this information to the Sr. Regulatory Compliance Engineer * Establish, document, implement and maintain Control4's regulatory compliance processes to ensure alignment with regulatory standards and internal requirements * Technical Documentation Filing - Manage inventory of reports, certificates and technical documents for information traceability and identification purposes * Perform pre-compliance EMC/RF/Product Safety testing per standards such as FCC Part 15C, RSS 210, EN 300 328, EN 300 220, EN 300 330, EN 300 440, EN 301 893, EN 55032, EN 55024/EN 61000 series, FCC Part 15B, IEC 62368-1 and IEC 60669 on representative products * Provide expert technical guidance concerning interpretation, understanding and complying with regulations/requirements, participate in investigations and root cause analysis of compliance-related events implement/document changes as needed and provide corrective action feedback to project managers and design engineers * Monitor, interpret, and report status on existing and emerging global regulations, standards and certifications requirements that may impact Control4 products; effectively communicate those regulatory impacts within Control4 and assist in the development and implementation of new and/or modified strategies and Engineering/business processes to address new requirements * Provide training to product certification team members on the latest global regulatory requirements * Other duties as assigned Qualifications * Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related major, plus at least 10 years of direct experience working in consumer electronics, certifications, product safety and regulatory compliance OR 15 years direct experience in lieu of BSEE or related degree * Comprehensive understanding of international product regulatory environment * Industry standards/regulations and test methodologies applicable to electronic equipment; labeling requirements, CE, Low Voltage, EMC, RED, and RoHS Directives; IEC/EN/NRTL Standards & country specific chemical, REACH, RoHS, WEEE, Prop65 regulations * Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills; exercises sound judgement in applying these skills * Strong collaborative, organizational and project management skills * Excellent written/verbal/communication and presentation skills * Familiarity with test and measurement equipment operation such as dielectric, leakage and ground impedance testers, DVMs Spectrum analyzer, etc. Control4 Corporation Draper UT
