The Tooling & Industrial Engineering team is responsible for the development and proliferation of custom service and commissioning tooling hardware to assist in the rapid development and maintenance of Tesla Energy's storage and charging solutions. This skilled and motivated individual will keep pushing this evolving energy industry forward by owning QC processes, engineering drawing obligations, and RCA of these service tools. The ideal candidate has a good mix of electrical and Quality control engineering skills with passion for working in a fast-growing renewable energy company.

  • Own proliferation, beta testing and collecting feedback of the new/production tool performance in the field

  • Become a conduit between the tool design and field service team

  • Work with vendor and global supply chain team to establish checks and balances to every custom tool. (100-200 units as of today)

  • Manage decision making of tooling manufacturing containments and upgrade

  • Travel to commissioning sites, vendor sites. containment/service sites, and Giga factories 10-15% of the time

  • Cross functional collaboration with vendors and internal stakeholders to deliver on tight deadlines for quick turnaround assemblies

  • Become a single point of contact for End of life and annual maintenance required for electromechanical tools in the field

  • Become a single point of contact for QC for global teams and vendors/CMs

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience

  • 2 or more years of proven manufacturing, DFM/DFA, QC experience

  • 2 or more years of product/tool release, change control experience

  • 2 or more years of experience with dealing with supply chain constraints in design

  • 2 or more years of experience in direct interfacing with product system testing, product system engineers & system troubleshooting

  • 1 or more years of general electrical-mechanical design, manufacturing and/or integration experience

  • Proven ability to communicate to stakeholder's ways to improve designs and processes from diligent tests and studies

  • Experience working with digital communication busses (CAN, Ethernet, RS-485, USB, SPI, I2C, etc.), PCBA, electrical enclosures, electrical harnesses, power supply

  • Understanding of key analog components such as capacitors, resistors, MOSFETs, op-amps, switching regulators, gate drivers, etc.

  • Proficiency with lab equipment. (oscilloscopes, electronic loads, signal generators, etc)
