Summary

This Electrical Engineer position will be part of the electrical engineering team, helping build the next generation of our products for the digital signage industry. A person at this level will research, design, and develop hardware products within a specific technical project. This position provides guidance, drives decision making and supports the Electrical Engineering group in various technical and functional aspects of research and development of new products and support of existing products.

A successful candidate will be a strong team player who is able to work across multiple functions and disciplines. The candidate should be self-directed and have experience and knowledge of hardware design, coding, and testing methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Design and test electronics related to the LED display industry. This includes embedded systems, communications systems, FPGAs, schematics, PCB layout, component selection, mechanical design, and project management.

  • Redesign and optimize existing products to improve functionality and cost.

  • Responsible for evaluating new software tools and components.

  • Create and maintain firmware and hardware documentation.

  • Specify new products and assist in project progression through production.

  • Cooperate with manufacturing to move designs into production including product testing and regulatory efforts.

  • Utilize a strong focus on Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Test (DFT).

  • Interact heavily and actively collaborate with teams throughout our vertically integrated company.

Required Qualifications/Skills:

  • Requires 2+ years specific work experience in electronics / electrical engineering design and/or optimization with increasing levels of complexity and responsibility.

  • Requires familiarity, coursework or work experience with Embedded Design, FPGA Design, VHDL/Verilog, C, C++;

  • Requires familiarity, coursework or work experience with PCB assemblies, PCB schematics, and PCB layout;

  • Requires familiarity, coursework or work experience with digital circuits;

  • Requires familiarity, coursework or work experience with communications hardware and software;

  • Requires familiarity, coursework or work experience with video formats and processing;

  • Requires familiarity with System Optimization; Knowledge and configuration of communication interfaces including Ethernet, PCI, UART, and SPI;

  • Familiarity with Autodesk and Altium products;

  • Project management experience desired.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, collaboration and working across teams for project completion.

  • Location: willingness to work full-time at our Danville or Champaign IL facilities.

Required Education and Licensing

  • Requires BS degree: ECE, EE, CE STRONGLY preferred; EET, Computer Science and other technical degrees may be considered.

The selected candidate will assist with the planning, design, and construction phase services for a wide variety of wastewater, potable water and storm water infrastructure projects.</p><p>Primary Responsibilities</p><ul><li><p>Performs design tasks including computations and analysis for municipal infrastructure including, wastewater treatment plants, sanitary sewers, lift stations and storm water facilities.</p></li><li><p>Applies engineering principals to develop solutions and evaluate performance and life cycle cost of municipal infrastructure improvements.</p></li><li><p>Creates drawings and models following the companys design standards and utilizing the designated CAD or modeling software with limited guidance.</p></li><li><p>Assists with the preparation of reports, plans, specifications, cost estimates, supporting documents and permit applications.</p></li><li><p>Assists with construction phase services for water and wastewater treatment facilities and for sanitary sewer, potable water, and storm sewer infrastructure projects.</p></li><li><p>Interprets construction plans and documents for the contractor and client, interface with operators regarding potential interference with operations,</p></li><li><p>Assists with full or preliminary review of shop drawings, submittals, change orders, punch lists and contractor as-builts.</p></li><li><p>Assists with maintaining project documentation, daily reports of construction site activity, project files, RFIs and submittals.</p></li><li><p>Participates in progress meetings and assists in equipment startup and project close-out.</p></li><li><p>Drafts correspondence, reports and communicates effectively with project stakeholders.</p></li><li><p>Other duties as assigned.</p></li></ul><p>Position Requirements</p><ul><li><p>B.S. degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering and EIT are required.
