This position is responsible for assisting in the product design change process. This process involves thorough troubleshooting, analysis, and design to create engineered solutions that improve the quality and safety of Genie aerial work products (AWP). The desired candidate will be presented with complex engineering problems related to the following focus areas: Microprocessor system control and protection Electro-mechanical sensors and feedback Hydraulic system control and analysis Electric vehicle drive technology

The candidate will design and implement prototype solutions while working closely with colleagues and suppliers. The position will be responsible for estimating cost and tracking project metrics leveraging project management skills to deliver quality designs communicated to a cross-functional team. Components and material used within a design will be researched, specified, and competitively quoted by working with the Materials group and suppliers.

Basic Qualifications:

  • B.S. Electrical Engineering

  • 4+ years work experience in a manufacturing environment

  • 2 years working with hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical control systems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Mechatronics program a plus

  • Proficient with AutoCAD and SolidWorks

  • Experience with hydraulic/electrical control systems

  • Experience with microprocessor based control systems

  • Excellent PC skills, including Excel and Word

  • Ability to organize and sequence work associated with complex designs

  • Machine Schematic and wiring harness layout skills in AutoCAD, or similar software

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Strong orientation towards safety, quality, and continuous improvement

  • Commitment to Lean Manufacturing

This individual will work in a cross-functional team consisting of other electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, optical engineers, and research scientists. The successful candidate will have experience working with displays, analog and digital design skills, and experience leading teams. Responsibilities * Collaborate with cross-functional team members * Partition EE work-loads among team members * Drive EE stand-up meetings * Drive all electrical engineering activities to completion, including: design, design reviews, manufacturing, assembly, test, characterization, and final system integration * Create architectural diagrams and documents * Hold design reviews and provide input to team members regarding EE best-practices * Create full system prototypes for next generation display technologies * Define scalable processes to take research-level prototypes and ramp them for production Minimum Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent * 5+ years of industry experience designing consumer products * Experience scaling designs from low-volume to high-volume * Experience designing embedded systems for production * Experience with communication interfaces, such as MIPI, USB, I2C, and SPI * Experience in schematic and board layout using Altium, Cadence, or equivalent * Experience with PCB layout principles, including high speed signal integrity (multi-Gigabit), power layout, de-sense, DFM, etc. * Experience with display systems * Experience creating system and device specifications Preferred Qualifications * Masters or PhD Degree * Experience with circuit simulations & modeling (e.g. SPICE, MATLAB) * Experience designing custom ASICs * Familiarity with silicon bring-up and characterization processes Oculus VR Redmond WA
