Position Description

Dynetics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Leidos, is seeking a talented Electrical Engineer

  • RF Hardware Design to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex problems. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Dynetics provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions.

The Product Engineering Department is a design-focused group of engineers specializing in advanced hardware-based solutions. The individual selected for this position will be a design engineer with RF engineering skills. The individual must be a self-starter with experience working with inter-disciplinary teams to solve challenging technical problems. The engineer will work closely with hardware integrated into a diverse range of aerospace and military systems including manned/unmanned ground/air vehicles, missiles, defensive radars, and space systems.

The Electrical Engineer will be expected to execute in a fast-paced, small team environment through all phases of the hardware life cycle from conceptual development and detailed design through manufacturing, qualification testing, and post-delivery support. The engineer should be familiar with the design of power amplifiers, low noise amplifiers, mixers, filters, signal synthesis, PIN diode switching, and analog-to-digital conversion and how to implement these hardware features in complex Radar, EA, and communications systems across several high frequency bands (L-band, S-band, C-band, X-band, Ku-band, Ka-band). Specific R&D interests in low phase noise, miniature high power PA design, and high bandwidth operation for advanced radar and EA developments is a plus. The candidate should be able to understand and model the theoretical operation of these systems and balance tradeoffs of multiple characteristics to reach an optimal design. The candidate should also be familiar with RF PCB design and packaging practices to fully support the solutions that Dynetics is developing.

With a product focus, the individual is also expected to actively partner with other engineers, project managers, technicians and the customer to develop solutions that adhere to a diverse set of requirements. Additionally, the engineer will support resolution of technical issues that are discovered during the manufacture and test of deliverable hardware. This will include troubleshooting board-level issues, assessing failures for root cause, and identifying corrective actions.

Basic Qualifications

  • Candidate must possess a Bachelor's of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited institution.

  • Candidate must have at least five (5) years of experience in RF hardware design.

  • Candidate must demonstrate an understanding of radar and communications principles.

  • Candidate must have hands-on laboratory experience with instrumentation, test equipment, and debug/test methods including use of network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, power meters, etc.

  • Position requires candidates to be capable of performing in a collaborative engineering environment working closely with multi-disciplinary teams.

  • Candidate must have demonstrated experience effectively communicating within a team environment.

  • Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville

  • North Alabama, AL area.

Other Qualifications

Preference shown to candidates who possess a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited institution with a 3.5 or higher GPA.

Preference shown to candidates who possess a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited institution.

Preference shown to candidates who have experience and/or working knowledge of:

  • Developing exciter, transmitter, receiver and antenna subsystems

  • Modeling, simulation, design verification testing, and characterization of RF circuits

  • Design, test, troubleshooting, and manufacture of analog/mixed-signal electronic circuit card and/or integrated RF assemblies

  • Mentor Graphics electrical engineering development tools

  • MATLAB and/or Python experience simulating radar and communication signal processors

  • EMI/EMC mitigation

  • Low SWAP-C Height of Burst Sensor (HOB / HOBS) and proximity sensor design

  • Die-level / chip-and-wire technology

Security Requirements

Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.

The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) team is seeking an RF Lead Electrical Design and Analysis Engineer located in Huntsville, AL. The selected candidate will be responsible for supporting complex RF analyses for the Space Launch Systems program (core stage and upper stage). The Space Launch System will be the most powerful rocket ever built and will be used to support deep space missions for manned and autonomous exploration. The engineer will be responsible for acting as a program subject matter expert in the RF field and will be responsible for driving the integration and test activities for both Telemetry and Guidance Navigation & Control RF systems.
