The Non-Destructive Evaluation and Inspection Systems (NDE&IS) group at BWXT researches, develops, and builds custom non-destructive inspection systems for both internal and external customers. NDE&IS is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our group of engineers and technicians to assist in the development of these systems.
Design and development of custom printed circuit boards and instruments.
This electronics development primarily analog including low noise amplifiers and pulse generators.
The power supply, interconnections, and wiring must also be designed and fabricated to turn the custom electronics into a complete instrument.
The custom electronics are typically integrated with commercial off-theshelf (COTS) hardware to form a complete system.
Most of these inspection systems perform automated scanning using high precision multi-axis motion control systems.The motion control systems are specified, integrated, and tested in house with some components fabricated by subcontractors.
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution is required with both digital and analog electronics design studies.
Ten or more year of related experience is required. Candidates with more extensive experience preferred.
Candidates should be able to use electronic and electrical CAD packages and be able to use electronics simulation software.
Candidates with experience in designing, fabricating, and testing PC boards are preferred.
Candidates with complete System Engineering experience are preferred.
Knowledge and experience developing with FPGAs is a plus, but not required.
Experience designing, fabricating, and testing automated motion control systems is a plus, but not required.
Having some proficiency in programming in C, C#, C++, LabVIEW, or similar computer programming languages is a plus, but not required.
The candidate should be a self-starter, capable of effectively working as part of a team, and occasionally, independently.
As well, the candidate should have strong oral, written and interpersonal skills.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Security Clearance.
Must be a US Citizen with no dual citizenship.
