Overview This position is responsible for performing, under supervision, engineering work but with limited direct responsibility. This position is within the Ghent Engineering group (position is located in Ghent, KY) and will focus on supporting the generating station with electrical related project work. This position will be filled according to the candidate's qualification and experience. Responsibilities Provides technical analysis, design, design verification and support for the power plant electrical systems. Serves as the technical subject matter expert for assigned equipment. Routinely interfaces with plant departments, to support operations and maintenance activities to ensure plant reliability. Identifies opportunities for improvement and/or suggests improved methods and gathers, correlates and analyzes specific data using established procedures. Performs detailed and/or routine engineering assignments involving established calculations, tests and analysis. Prepares and presents reports, requiring self-analysis and recommendations, for related plant reliability, compliance and/or engineering activities. Proposes, justifies and manages installation of equipment, structures and devices needed for the plant to comply with regulations. Identifies and manages contract personnel, provides budget, accrual and forecast data. Supports operating and maintenance functions with engineering analysis, troubleshooting, problem identification, problem resolution activities. Directs the activities of coops, and others, as instructed, as they perform various activities including installation or checkout of new equipment, troubleshooting, testing, tuning, etc. Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with all policies and standards. Qualifications Required Education ABET accredited Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering is required. Preferred Qualifications Ability to use formal engineering training in practical application to power plant assignments. Knowledge of power plant electrical systems, including but not limited to low, medium and high Voltage systems, switchgear, motor control centers (MCC's), breakers and transformers. Experience managing a range of projects from small to large including developing schedules, managing budgets, and overseeing construction through to completion. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate technical issues and solutions to broad audiences. #LG&EKU #INDLGE
