To create standard products with reference of using customer specifications to design Powell standard products.

  • Design standard jobs with guidance.

  • Read and interpret customer job specifications.

  • Order materials.

  • Create drawings.

  • Transmit drawings to shop and customer.

  • Interface with sales, customer (with supervisor) and shop.

  • Completed task are check by more senior engineers.

  • Direct designers in completing wiring diagrams.

Job Requirements

  • BS Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology or related area.

  • Minimum 0-3 years of experience in an Engineering role.

  • Check wiring diagrams completed by others.

  • Ability to analyze and answer technical questions from designers.

  • Ability to interact on a regular basis with shop personnel.

  • Able to apply product knowledge and technical skills to solve simple application problems independently with minimum supervision.

  • Basic computer skills using Oracle, Word, Excel.

  • Ability to order material electronically.

  • Advanced drafting/CAD skills.

  • Proficient with electrical design and circuitry.

  • Able to read and interpret electrical symbols, characters, and modify drawings.

  • Able to apply (told by others what it means and which code) NEC, ANSI, and Other as it applies to the day to day activity.

  • Basic understanding of power system and relay applications as applied to products.

  • Ability to apply industry standards as applicable to job and product.

  • Innovative to improve existing products.

  • Able to design one product in the most economical way while achieving quality.

  • Attend in house and outside training sessions.

  • Attend local professional associations.

  • Learn policies and procedures, work instruction, ISO policies, Safety Rules and Regulations, and vendor products.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

JOB DESCRIPTION Control systems engineer or electrical engineer who specializes in mechatronic responsiveness, including fully scale testing of hardware, firmware, and mechanical actuation. Function as part of a team to develop and test control systems electronics for use in Weatherford's MLWD and RSS downhole drilling systems. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Collaborate with other engineering staff to meet assigned project goals Design experiments to measure system response time Direct and oversee the project-specific activities of assigned technician staff Compare competing systems for better responsiveness Interface closely with drafting group to develop circuit board documentation Participate in the engineering signoff of PC board documentation in Windchill (PDM) Provide support for all relevant design documents (work instructions, test procedures, theories of operation, etc.) Assist Manufacturing with the transition of prototype designs to production Demonstrate a personal commitment to Quality, Health, Safety and the Environment QUALIFICATIONS Required: Competent user of data acquisition instrumentation and methods Proficient with data & circuit analysis tools (e.g. Matlab or Multisim) Good analytical and problem-solving skills Strong organizational skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office products Good interpersonal and communications skills BS in Electrical Engineering (4-year degree) 3 years' experience Preferred: Knowledgeable in the areas of low-power and high-temperature hardware design for the downhole environment MatLab Simulink Experience 8 years of testing and presenting control solutions DAQ logging and experimentation in support of findings POSITION SPECIFIC DETAILS Weatherford offers competitive compensation and benefits upon hire; including paid vacation to start, matching 401K program, comprehensive benefits program, and employee stock purchase program (ESPP) and opportunities for on-going training and career development.
