Harriman is an established design firm with offices in Auburn and Portland, ME, Portsmouth, NH, and Boston, MA. We offer professional services in architecture, engineering, interior design, and urban design and planning.We are seeking a licensed Professional Engineer responsible for coordinating with the project team to conceptualize and design electrical systems.

The successful candidate will be able to act independently regarding engineering methods and complexities, apply sound and diverse knowledge of engineering principles and practices in a broad array of assignments. Plan and conduct work including evaluation, selection, and design. Assess problems when encountered and provide guidance to engineers, interns and other company personnel on project designs and solutions or unusual or complex issues or projects. May supervise and direct interns and other department personnel as well as provide project oversight and management, supervision and guidance on overall objectives, critical issues, or new concepts. Organizes own work and work of other team members to ensure all deadlines are met. Markets new work to include client contact and client presentations

The location for this position is flexible and could be in any of our 4 locations.

Requirements

  • Professional degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Professional Registration
  • 6-9 years electrical design experience

As an Electrical Engineer/Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical support to the electrical maintenance staff for troubleshooting and repair of control systems. This consists of various manufactures of PLCs, HMIs and Motion Controllers. You will also be responsible for developing and planning projects for new and existing equipment, upgrades to improve processes and to remove obsolescence. In addition, you will be responsible for control system design, programming, machine startup, customer interface and machine runoff. Your responsibilities Typical duties/responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: * Design Skills and Abilities. * Provide advanced software programming, including PLC, HMI, etc. * Provide technical support to electrical maintenance staff for troubleshooting and repair of control systems consisting of various manufactures of PLCs, HMIs, and Motion Controllers. * Develop and maintain formal process for software and drawings change management. * Create, modify, and maintain Electrical Control and Power distribution Schematics. * Develop and Plan Projects for new equipment independently or with small design groups. * Develop and Plan projects for Existing equipment upgrades to remove obsolescence, Improve Processes, or accommodate Product Changes. * Experience with Integrate Control Hardware from different Manufacturers of different vintages. * Responsible for the project management and complete design of the electrical, control system, and programming of new and retrofitted medium to large sized industrial automation. * Must demonstrate ability to teach/instruct associates of lesser knowledge/ experience when needed. * Must be knowledgeable with reading electrical schematics. * Must be familiar with Ladder Logic and Function Block programming, very proficient with all the Microsoft applications (Access, Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Your background Basic Qualifications: * Bachelor's of Science in Electrical Engineering from 4 years accredited school or equivalent experience * 3-5 years of industry experience Preferred Qualifications: * Effective communication skills both written and verbal. * Strong project and time management skills. * Troubleshooting and innovative problem-solving skills. * Ability to Review and understand current machine prints to formulate solutions. * Excellent customer communication and teamwork skills in leading electrical concept and final design reviews. * Skilled with Electronic systems, Electronic troubleshooting, project management, analyzing information, attention to detail, innovation.
