We are currently seeking an Electrical Engineer, III (battery development) to join our team.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Develop requirements for battery modules and packs.
Design, develop, implement and test battery components and concepts.
Plan, schedule, and execute test plans for battery cell and pack testing.
Develop and build a variety of battery-related models such as performance, and aging models.
Perform experiments needed for validating and tuning model parameters.
Take cell data, and turn into cell level RC-type (or other) models, and expand to the module and pack performance modeling.
Work with a multi-disciplinary team to design and produce battery packs.
Interface with outside test facilities and vendors to perform the required testing.
Required Qualifications & Background
US Citizenship or Permanent Resident (Green Card) required due to ITAR
Bachelors Degree in electrical, chemical, or related engineering. MS a plus.
5-8 years of relevant work experience in the lithium-ion battery field.
Proven experience with various lithium-ion chemistries and its characteristics.
Understanding of electric vehicles and components a must.
Experience in Matlab/Simulink.
Experience with 1D-3D simulation tools (e.g. GT, STARCCM+, ANSYS Fluent, etc) a plus.
Experience in experiment design, battery cell testing and safety/design, exposure to test equipment such as Arbin, ABC-150, Maccor cyclers, Novonix, etc. a plus.
Ability to read and draw wiring schematics, top level, components, connectors, fuses, and relays.
Ability to spec and recommend fuses, cable sizes, switches and relays for both LV 12VDC and HV 400 VDC systems.
Working knowledge of inter-module communications protocols like SM bus, I2C, and others a plus.
Familiarity with motors, inverters, converters, and chargers a plus.
Experience building a custom BMS is a plus.
Good communication and teamwork skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Computer competency in word processing, spreadsheets a must.
Some travel required.
