We are currently seeking an Electrical Engineer, I (motor design and control) to join our team.
We are seeking a hands-on composite design engineer to join our team developing a solar-electric-powered aircraft. You will support various company projects and programs across the entire life cycle of product development and design of all-electric aircraft. This position will be an integral part of the structures team working on composite aircraft, including design of airframe structure, material selection, as well as interfacing of those structures with various aircraft subsystems.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Develop a variety of power conversion devices and motor control systems from the early stages of design through final testing and manufacturing support.
Perform design, analysis, component evaluation and selection, and lab/field testing of engineering units.
Conducts vendor searches, order components, and provide technical liaison with vendors
Creates detailed schematics and writes assembly and test procedures.
Execute and modify detailed test plans & procedures and write test reports documenting test results.
Execute functional, performance, and environmental tests on power and propulsion components.
Maintain objectivity and composure under pressure.
Be agile and open to deal with shifting priorities, demands, and timelines.
Required Qualifications & Background
US Citizenship or Permanent Resident (Green Card) required due to ITAR
BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent required. MS a plus.
0-2 yrs experience in the field is required.
Recent experience must include design, development, test, system integration of components.
Hands-on (lab) experience with power electronics and electric drive systems is required.
Must have analog and power circuit design experience in addition to digital circuit design.
Must be familiar with control theory employing both analog and digital components and must be well versed in both AC and DC motors fundamentals.
Must have a strong familiarity with magnetic, thermal and EMI design challenges in high power >100kW, switch-mode power devices.
Good working knowledge of component options and suppliers/vendors.
Experience writing test plans, procedures, and reports a plus.
Experience with the manufacturing of high-reliability, flight systems a plus.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Computer competency in word processing, spreadsheets, and electronic design tools.
Some travel required.
