Position Information

ENTRY LEVEL CLASS FOR ENGINEERING GRADUATES AND STUDENTS!

Current Vacancy Information:

There is one vacancy with the Department of Transportation Services, Transportation Technology Division, Traffic Control Center Branch. Under the direct supervision of a licensed electrical engineer, performs routine electrical engineering work requiring some judgment and experience involving the design, preparation and review of construction plans, project management, conducting operational checks, monitoring and evaluating system operation, fiber optic and wireless communication design, and improving and optimizing traffic signal timing plans.

Assists in reviewing and may recommend approval of trenching permits. Also assists in the research, development, and expansion of the City's Joint Traffic Management Centeroperations and Intelligent Transportation System's components

Special Work Requirements:

Attend neighborhood board and community meetings. Disaster Response Worker (DRW) per Mayor's Directive Number 13-1 must be able to perform shift work during emergency events or during EOC activation, work on weekends, and holidays, and able to work outside normal working hours when necessary.

This position is required to have unescorted access to the Joint Traffic Management Center. Any employee with unescorted access to secured areas and equipment related to a traffic management center requires a fingerprint-based national criminal history record check prior to assignment to this position authorized by HRS 846-2.7 (b)(37) and in accordance with JTMC Policy No. 2016-B.06, Fingerprint-Based Criminal History Record Check (CHRC) and CHRC Clearance.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

At time of application, you must be a citizen, national or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:

Equivalent to graduation from a regionally-accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in an engineering specialty.

Desirable education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering

Education obtained outside of the United States must be comparable to a degree earned at a regionally-accredited college/university in the United States. In order to receive credit for the education, a foreign credential evaluation (FCE) must be provided. We also reserve the right to request further information about your academic program, evidence of comparability, or an original transcript.

Verification Requirement: You must submit evidence of your education in order to be given credit.

If selected for the position, you must submit a copy of your diploma, official transcript which shows the embossed seal, or applicable FCE prior to hiring. Education requirements must be met at the time of application or within six (6) months of submitting your application. All information on your documentation must be legible and complete in order to be given credit.

LICENSE REQUIREMENT:

Possession of an appropriate valid driver's license (automobile/Type 3), as required.
