Position Title: Electrical Engineer (Hardware)

  • Location: Cheshire, CT
  • Travel: Occasionally (1-20% of work time)

How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?

Electrical Engineer with five years of experience developing hardware for embedded systems. The candidate will be accountable for designing, building, and testing electronic products for the gas industry. The candidate will work within a multi-disciplinary team. The candidate will be responsible for new products from their design stage through commercialization. We require an individual that is comfortable and competent in the role of an EE technical leader.

In particular, you will:

  • Design, build, test, and document electronic products from concept, feasibility, prototyping through production

  • Conduct system functional tests, and troubleshoot devices and equipment as required

  • Prepare product drawings, schematics and bills of material that meet project requirements

  • Provide and continuously communicate time and cost estimates

  • Develop and document test procedures, perform tests, write reports and archive records.

  • Provide ongoing technical assistance to manufacturing

  • Other job duties as may be assigned.

Are you a MATCH?

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or Science or equivalent work experience

  • Five years of experience designing, building, and testing hardware for embedded systems

  • Experience with low power wireless sensor designs preferred

  • Experience with design for Hazardous Locations preferred

  • Embedded microcontroller based hardware design, including peripheral devices such as A-D converters, voltage/current switches/regulators/controllers/monitors, batteries, solar panels, and charging system controllers

  • Communicating with board houses, become the main point of contact (technically) to minimize errors/delay in board production/delivery date. Experience with board testing & verification from board houses

  • Expert knowledge of schematic capture software such as Orcad/Altium or equivalent

  • Direct design experience with RF wireless communication technologies such as 4G, 5G, Dust, Sigfox and LoRa.

  • Knowledge/experience with proper PC board/System level design so as to preclude electromagnetic compatibility issues and ESD within an RF/Embedded microcontroller antenna based system

  • Experienced using oscilloscopes, network analyzers, spectrum analyzers and basic lab tools and instruments.

  • Experienced in documenting and obtaining TUV, EMC, UL, and FCC regulatory approvals.

  • Expert knowledge of schematic capture packages i.e. Orcad

  • Experience with mathematical and simulation tools i.e. LabView

  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)

  • Experience using SAP

  • Able to save and maintain electronic files

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations

  • Ability to write routine business reports and business correspondence in English

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees and/or customers

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals using the English language

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle high-level multi-tasking

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Advanced mathematical skills relevant to the application of electrical engineering

Firmware/Electrical Engineer with seven years of experience developing embedded systems. The candidate will be accountable for designing, building, and testing embedded, wireless electronic products for the gas industry. The candidate will work within a multidisciplinary team. The candidate will be responsible for new products from their design stage through commercialization. We require an individual that is comfortable and competent in the role of an EE technical leader with experience in hardware and firmware development including but not limited to Linux, RTOS, C. In particular, you will: * Design, build, test, and document microprocessor based wireless electronic products from concept, feasibility, and prototyping through production. * Create embedded firmware and software in widely used software development environments (e.g. IAR Systems, AVR Studio, Eclipse, MPLab IDE). * Create drawings, electrical schematics, bills of material, manufacturing documentation and user guides for products. * Design PCBA layouts, generate manufacturing files and follow board production with Contract Manufacturing. * Design and conduct system functional tests and troubleshoot products and equipment as required. * Provide and continuously communicate time and cost estimates for projects. * Provide ongoing technical assistance to manufacturing Are you a MATCH? * BS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent work experience * Experience with Yocto Linux and real time operating systems (RTOS) for embedded systems. * Experience generating firmware for 8-bit, 32-bit single or dual core microprocessor systems including use of peripheral devices such as A-D converters, voltage/current switches/regulators/controllers/monitors, batteries, solar panels, and charging system controllers.
