Tallahassee, FL Regular/Temporary: Regular Full/Part Time: Full-Time Job ID: 59594 Department Facilities - Central Utilities Responsibilities Develop proficient electrical engineering designs and specifications necessary to produce construction documents to modify, upgrade, and develop the various campus electrical systems, utilizing up-to-date, energy efficient and cost effective schemes.

Designs, estimates, plans, and inspects electrical construction projects. Manages project schedules. Perform requisite preliminary and final electrical drafting to create construction documents, as well as drafting for other engineering and architectural disciplines, as may be required in the interest of overall campus design section productivity.

Uses AutoCAD and other drafting tools to prepare a complete set of electrical construction documents. Interprets and applies related federal, state and local codes, rules and regulations including, but not limited to, Florida Building Code, NFPA 70, NFPA 72 and NFPA 101 as they pertain to electrical construction projects. Performs detailed estimates of labor and materials required to implement construction documents.

Produces preliminary electrical engineering designs and preliminary estimates of construction cost for renovation projects as requested by University Departments. Performs on-site investigation, review existing plans and ensure that the design is compliant with sound engineering practices and established laws, codes, regulations, and standards. Operates various electrical test equipment including, but not limited to, multimeter, circuit tracer, power demand analyzer, circuit disturbance analyzer and ground resistance test kit.

Coordinates electrical design with the architectural and mechanical designs to ensure its proper integration for a complete compatible solution to the renovation problem. Communicates with University personnel and outside consultants and contractors as appropriate. Mark-up drawings for engineers and engineer technicians in the architectural and mechanical disciplines.

Drafts electrical construction documents to help expedite production. May operate University vehicles. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required.

A valid State of Florida or Georgia Driver’s License or ability to obtain upon hire.
