Job Description

Job Summary:

The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the design and development of electrical systems and/or components to customer and internal specifications, focusing on economy, safety, reliability, quality, as well as sustainability. The engineer will be involved in projects from the concept and detail design through implementation, testing, and selloff to the customer. The engineer will work in a multi-disciplinary project team, including engineers from other disciplines, as well as marketing and sales staff, manufacturing personnel, technicians, and customer service personnel and will possess the technical knowledge as well as the ability to manage projects and multitask. Additional attributes, such as team leadership skills and commercial awareness, are required for career progression. The ideal candidate will demonstrate competency in decision-making, flexibility, planning and organizing, initiative, and interpersonal skills.


Identify customer requirements

  • Design electrical systems and products

  • Develop design specifications and technical drawings

  • Specify components, wire and connector sizing, and interfaces

  • Generate electrical schematics and drawings

  • Process Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) - electrical

  • Create bills of materials

  • Validate schematics and circuit diagrams

  • Research suitable solutions while estimating costs & schedule

  • Create models and/or prototypes of products

  • Work with others on the design, product management, and production teams

  • Work with clients and contractors

  • Design test plans and conduct tests

  • Record, analyze, and interpret test data

  • Propose modifications and retesting products as required for product compliance to specifications

  • Qualify the final product and/or system

  • Adhere to Quality Management processes and policies

  • Service and maintain equipment as necessary

  • Prepare product documentation, write reports, and give presentations for design and other engineering reviews and meetings

  • Ability to resolve process problems and provide recommendations to improve processes.

  • Monitor products in use so as to improve on future design

  • Experience in electro/mechanical system design

  • Experience with soldering, crimping, MIL spec connectors and harness design

  • Experience with Networking systems including wireless, Ethernet, serial communications

  • Experience with generators, chargers, battery systems

  • Working with the National Electrical Code to ensure safety and compliance



  • Must be a US Citizen

  • Bachelors Degree

  • 5-7 years Electrical Engineering

  • Practical/hands on experience designing & analysis

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

This position will be located in Elkridge, MD. This position is part of the Factory Quality Team supporting Quality Mission Excellence (QME) and Inspection. This position provides quality engineering support for Life Cycle and Sustainment Operations (LCSO) consisting of repairs and production. Areas of specialization include design, incoming material, production control, product evaluation and reliability, inventory control and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality. Roles and responsibilities: * Ensures that QME (Quality & Mission Excellence) performance and quality conform to established contract and company requirements. * Reviews, analyzes and reports on quality discrepancies related to QME level performance, key performance indicator metrics and process metrics. * Provides proactive support to identify potential issues and concerns. Investigates problems and develops disposition and corrective actions for recurring discrepancies. * Interface and support Operation Program Management and Production Control related to LCSO. * Interfaces with QME supplier and subcontractor representatives to ensure requirements are understood and met. * Recommends corrective actions, dispositions and modifications. * Support internal assessments and audits. * Devises and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment. * Provides primary point of contact support Life Cycle Sustainment Organization LCSO Mission Assurance MAQEA Basic Qualifications: * Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Technical field * 5 years of relevant technical experience * Excellent presentation, oral and written communication skills * Demonstrated success working individually or as part of a team * Demonstrated ability to make informed decisions * Experience utilizing Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access,) * Ability to obtain Secret security clearance (US Citizenship is required) Preferred Qualifications: * Experience with SAP * Knowledge of Process Improvement Methodologies (e.g. Lean, Six Sigma) * Understanding of ISO9001 and/or AS9100 standards, audit experience * Familiar with MA and Space processes and systems * Familiar with manufacturing techniques and equipment related LCSO * Active Secret Security Clearance Northrop Grumman is committed to hiring and retaining a diverse workforce.
