Provides first level engineering support to develop and implement engineering solutions to resolve National Airspace System (NAS) operations issues within the VISAID area. Solving problems requires use of a combination of standard engineering principles, testing, analysis, mathematical modeling, and engineering judgment to develop solutions to complex problems.

Provides on-site technical support to specialists/engineers in the troubleshooting, repair, restoration and optimization of the NAS facilities. Provides construction and installation support to engineers/specialist as necessary.

Provides engineering review of Obstruction Evaluation Cases (OE/AAA), NAS Change Proposals (NCP), and Non-Rule Making Actions (NRA). Analyzes various types of VISAID issues and develops/implements mitigation strategies. Provides feedback on the implementation of facilities. Coordinates and participates in test modifications, provides review and justification on projects, reviews engineering packages to resolve issues that may impact NAS facilities. Provides consultation to Non-Federal entities in the establishment of systems in the NAS. Chairs telecons to share and provide systems information in respective program area and advocates on behalf of the field facilities. Reviews system level performance and provides analysis to develop systems level solutions. Prepares technical papers and reports.

Incumbent is expected to apply professional engineering knowledge and experience in solving complex technical problems as they arise. Is responsible for independently resolving complex technical problems involving testing and troubleshooting of equipment to insure timely restoration of NAS equipment. This assignment requires that the incumbent will serve as an onsite "expert" and that he/she apply his/her expert knowledge gained through formal training and on the job training to various systems under the responsibility of the organization. Requires minimal supervision in planning and executing assigned duties.

Displays independence in managing time and resources to accomplish multiple assignments/projects concurrently.

Specialized Experience:
