Provides first level engineering support to develop and implement engineering solutions to resolve National Airspace System (NAS) operations issues within the VISAID area. Solving problems requires use of a combination of standard engineering principles, testing, analysis, mathematical modeling, and engineering judgment to develop solutions to complex problems.

Provides on-site technical support to specialists/engineers in the troubleshooting, repair, restoration and optimization of the NAS facilities. Provides construction and installation support to engineers/specialist as necessary.

Provides engineering review of Obstruction Evaluation Cases (OE/AAA), NAS Change Proposals (NCP), and Non-Rule Making Actions (NRA). Analyzes various types of VISAID issues and develops/implements mitigation strategies. Provides feedback on the implementation of facilities. Coordinates and participates in test modifications, provides review and justification on projects, reviews engineering packages to resolve issues that may impact NAS facilities. Provides consultation to Non-Federal entities in the establishment of systems in the NAS. Chairs telecons to share and provide systems information in respective program area and advocates on behalf of the field facilities. Reviews system level performance and provides analysis to develop systems level solutions. Prepares technical papers and reports.

Incumbent is expected to apply professional engineering knowledge and experience in solving complex technical problems as they arise. Is responsible for independently resolving complex technical problems involving testing and troubleshooting of equipment to insure timely restoration of NAS equipment. This assignment requires that the incumbent will serve as an onsite "expert" and that he/she apply his/her expert knowledge gained through formal training and on the job training to various systems under the responsibility of the organization. Requires minimal supervision in planning and executing assigned duties.

Displays independence in managing time and resources to accomplish multiple assignments/projects concurrently.

VIEW JOBS 1/11/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-04-11T00:00 OVERVIEW We are currently looking for an Associate System Engineer ("ASE") to join our team! The ASE to perform an integral role for a large-scale, logistically complex technology refresh program for a large K-12 client. The selected ASE will be responsible for a variety of responsibilities, including quality assurance inspections, site surveying, design, site management, equipment configuration, and/or integration team leader for the upgrading of network infrastructure, wireless equipment, Servers, and IP Video surveillance for a large K-12 client. Depending upon the area of the program this individual is assigned to, they will support a Program-Manager-Level Technical Leadership team. Primary responsibility for this ASE, as part of a larger technical team, will be ensuring the quality of services centered on the upgrading of equipment for over 200+ networks annually. This individual may also manage 2 to 3 technical resources in support of their assignments. Depending upon assignments, travel throughout Long Island and the five boroughs of NYC is to be expected. RESPONSIBILITIES * Quality assurance inspections of both infrastructure and cabling plants for compliance to program standards * Overall success of the technical services assigned to them under the program * Surveying and documenting existing networks * Configuration of network and wireless equipment * Integration of wired and wireless networks in NYC schools * Resource Management as needed (2 to 3 Technical Resources) * Completing all Program defined deliverables in a timely manner * Identify and communicate issues in a timely manner * Evualating issues with site conditions and recommend solution to move the sites forward. QUALIFICATIONS * 2 to 3 years' experience in quality assurance review of network, wireless, and cabling installations * 2 to 3 years' experience in implementing wireless networks * Understanding of industry standards of data cabling * Excellent attention to detail * Technical skills in the area of Networking and Wireless technologies * Ability to quickly get up to speed on contractual requirements and standards * Solid aptitude across Microsoft Office Suite - especially Word, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint * Strong communication and conflict resolution skills * Strong customer service skills * Must be willing to work 2nd shift hours (2:00 PM to 10:00 PM) at client sites through NYC on a regular basis (potentially daily for several months). * Proficient in English * Qualified candidates should possess the following technical skills: * A minimum of 2 to 3 years' experience in LAN/WAN environments with responsibility for maintaining network services, security & administration * Experience in Windows 2003/2008/2012 Server in LAN/WAN environments * Cisco Infrastructure and Aruba Wireless experience/knowledge * A thorough understanding of network infrastructure and protocols (e.g. TCP/IP, IPX, AppleTalk) * Knowledge of VLAN structures and configuration backup * At least one major network certification (CCNA, etc.) * General knowledge of proxy servers * Desktop OS, NOS and application support experience The position is based in Hauppauge, LI and will require daily travel into the five boroughs of New York City.
