About the role:
Our electrical engineers are able to successfully define and build complex systems that cross disciplinary boundaries, whether that's dealing with photons or accelerations or forces or gigabytes of data. We care deeply about design and user experience, without sacrificing our strong safety culture. We are building our dream tools, for people like us, to get answers to difficult questions quickly. What you'll do:
Define system-level specifications for complex electro-mechanical systems
Perform circuit design, schematic capture, and PCB layout
Bring up boards and see them through testing and system integration
Design and prototype your own projects under mentorship from our electrical engineers
Work with our outstanding group of engineers across disciplines to deliver integrated systems at a challenging price/performance target
About you:
Pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
Prior experience with soldering, breadboarding, system wiring and/or other hands-on electronics skills
Prior experience using multimeters, oscilloscopes, signal generators, and/or other lab instruments
Comfortable using Python, C, and/or Linux
Thrive in a fast-paced startup environment
Exhibit insatiable curiosity for how things work
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Organized, well-rounded technical thinker with a strong attention to detail
Bonus points for:
A portfolio of work that you can share
Experience with motor drives and position control
Experience with cameras or other digital imaging systems
Familiarity with ECAD software such as Altium Designer, Cadence, Mentor, KiCad, etc.
Have experience debugging board-level communication protocols (e.g., I2C, SPI, USB, etc.)
Have at least basic familiarity with MCU firmware development
