Our Engineering Team is currently on the lookout for an Electrical Engineer at our Ceilings plant in Macon, GA. As Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for providing engineering and technical services to support manufacturing equipment, maintenance systems, and production processes. Additionally, you will play a critical role in our lean efforts as we continuously strive to improve our processes and reduce waste. You will also take on and execute electrical projects and studies of significant importance, scope, and complexity.

What you'll be doing

  • Provide electrical engineering and technical assistance to manufacturing plant in terms of equipment, maintenance, and production processes and systems

  • Manage the plant's capital budget

  • Participate in identifying and resolving common cause and special cause electrical issues that impact plant reliability and performance

  • Investigate manufacturing problems in the plant and recommend corrective actions

  • Develop preliminary concepts and budgetary capital estimates for new electrical products, projects, and improvements

  • Assisting with developing vendor bid packages and final vendor selection for purchased parts and services

  • Execute capital projects, ensure cost, schedule, and performance goals are met or exceeded

  • Apply precision maintenance concepts and principals

  • Educate plant personnel on electrical engineering and technical issues

  • Coordinate training and start-up activities of new equipment and processes

  • Participate in Lean efforts, such as Kaizen events, where an emphasis is placed on creativity before capital investment

  • Provide status updates on project progress and issues

What will make you successful

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering

  • 2+ years of electrical engineering experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Demonstrated Project Management skills

  • PLC and HMI programming experience with the Rockwell suite of products

  • Experience with Wonderware application programming and support

About the Location (Macon, GA)

Our Macon Plant, one of twelve Armstrong plants in North America, employs over 400 people working on rotating shifts, 24/7, in the manufacture and shipment of acoustical ceiling tile to Armstrong's customers. Located approximately 85 miles south of Atlanta, the Macon facility has 33 acres under one roof, or 1.5 million square feet of floor space. It is the largest ceiling tile factory in the world. The operations are complex, automated, use the latest modern management technology, and manufacture a wide range of commercial and residential ceiling products.

JOB SUMMARY: The Electrical Engineer produces component and system specifications, designs, drawings, design verification procedures and reports in an effort to integrate and install the state of the art electrical systems on Blue Bird school buses. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: * Assessing project requirements such as technical challenges, engineering hours, risk assessment, etc. * Ensure designs meet FMVSS, State, and customer requirements * Assist in definition of electrical system and component specifications * Produce and implement designs, drawings, and test documentation * Review electrical designs to ensure they are safe, robust, and efficient * Focus on cost reductions and able to control project and testing costs. * Liaising with suppliers * Communicate well with the cross-functional team (Manufacturing, Purchasing, Management, etc.) * Able to manage a multitude of various projects and strive for on-time engineering sign-off dates. * Writing engineering reports and various documentation * Providing technical advice * Analyzing and interpreting engineering test data QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, & ABILITIES: * Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university. * Individual needs to be technically minded, able to manage people and projects to completion. * A minimum of 5 years' experience in relevant automotive or truck environment is required. * Experience with several of the following areas of electrical integration is a preference: * Electric Vehicles * CAN Bus / J1939 data links / Multiplexing * Automotive displays (LCD, Touchscreen, etc.) * Collision Avoidance Systems * Automotive Feature Integration * Automotive Wiring /Harnesses * DFMEA, DVP&R, and other essential Engineering Processes WORK CONDITIONS: (The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
