Job Summary

Nuclear Waste Partnership, an LLC of AECOM, is seeking an

Electrical E ngineer to be based in our Carlsbad, New Mexico location.

The successful candidate will be required to perform engineering calculations and analysis within the scope of engineering discipline and provide rigorous written documentation supporting design decisions. Effectively interface with various departments including QA, Procurement, Project Management, Operations and Maintenance personnel. Provide technical field leadership support to solve equipment malfunctions. Maintain system configuration documentation including but not limited to system drawings, design specifications, trending analysis, and system health indicators including performing system health walk downs and system health reports. Maintain qualification on annual training covering commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures used to complete the engineering process. Track and perform assignments, develop project schedules, cost estimates, and statement of work for projects as required. Will perform electrical or instrument/control design, new design implementation, modification/evaluation of existing systems, perform routine inspections for adherence to applicable building/construction codes/regulations; engineering design change processes, and configuration design control.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.

  • Due to the nature of the work, candidates must be US Citizens.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience at a DOE or nuclear power generation site is desired.

  • Current Professional Engineer (PE) License or the capability to obtain a PE license is preferred.

  • Strong leadership skills are a plus.

  • Previous WIPP experience preferred.

Job Knowledge / Qualifications, Skills, Experience, Competencies * Provides leadership in Health, Safety and Environment for the E&I maintenance team * Ensures that all electrical and instrumentation maintenance activities by hourly and contractor personnel are carried out in a safe, efficient and environmentally sound manner, by ensuring that all necessary procedures, practices, standards, rules, are documented and followed and quality initiatives met. * Provides leadership to ensure that equipment is maintained with maximum efficiency and productivity by initiating corrective action and ensuring maintenance and engineering standards are adhered to. * Provide leadership to ensure that equipment maintenance philosophy is applied to each unit correctly and reflected in PM schedules as directed by the East Surface Superintendent. * Ensures that human resources policies are applied in a fair and consistent manner. * Actively engages employees and contractors, seeking their input and feedback on issues affecting the department and plans for change/growth. * Ensures that the performance management process for team members is utilized and that performance is managed to meet the needs of the company and the employee. Job Knowledge, Skills & Experience: * Electrical Journeyman, minimum 5 years experience * Minimum 3 years industrial experience * Minimum High School diploma or GED * Valid Drivers License Technical qualifications: * Maintenance planning/scheduling experience * Supervision/management experience Contacts: * Works with the management and engineering team on site. * Interfaces with peers in Plant Operations, Technical, Business and HSE to deliver on the business goals. * Interfaces with variety of contractors and vendors. * Supervision Exercised * Exercises direct and indirect supervision over a number of levels, using leadership skills to drive the performance and behaviour of the E&I maintenance team to meet the defined business objectives.
