Duties

Work activities may include any combination of the following tasks: Reads and interprets blueprints. Reads and interprets all types of electrical and electronic schematics. Maintains and troubleshoots electrical and electronic equipment, related circuits, and computer systems. Demonstrates a working knowledge of electrical maintenance safety requirements. Uses specialized electrical and electronic testing equipment such as oscilloscopes, digital volt meters, signal generators, frequency counters and related technical tools. Troubleshoots, tests, repairs and calibrates electrical and electronic equipment and related systems including circuit boards, electro-pneumatic equipment, flow/level and pressure transmitters, radio transmission/receiving devices, security and surveillance equipment and related electronics. Repairs the electric and electronic portions of chemical feed systems. Assists in the development and implementation of preventative maintenance requirements. Performs minor mechanical maintenance. Demonstrates a basic knowledge of water treatment or wastewater processes. Demonstrates knowledge and use of computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) and related documentation procedures. Initiates work orders. Demonstrates knowledge of the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) Systems.

Electrical work activities involve maintaining and repairing electrical components, electrical wiring, fixtures and equipment, performs any combination of the following tasks: troubleshooting electric malfunctions; testing, repairing, adjusting and replacing defective components and parts; using electrical test equipment and tools.

Performs required maintenance in HVAC heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems. Tests, repairs and replaces AC/DC motors 12 volts single phase up to 4160 volts 3 phase.

Maintains job safety standards (personal protection equipment, confines space, etc.); complies with City of Shreveport vehicle safety rules; trains new team members on safe work practices; maintains good communication with team members. Regularly attends required safety, job related and certification training classes as required.Demonstrates the ability and desire to work in a team environment within the multi-skilled workforce. Subject to be on call 24/7. Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Minimum Qualifications

1). High School diploma or GED.

2). Valid State Vehicle Operator's License.

3). Two years of formal training with a completion certificate from an accredited vocational technical school or higher in the field of electronic equipment and control systems and two years of equivalent journeyman level experience in the electrical/electronic maintenance field or 4 years of equivalent journeyman level experience in the electrical/electronic maintenance field.

Lucas Plant Assignment - Hold or be able to obtain Class 2 Wastewater Treatment and Wastewater Collection Certificates issued by the State of Louisiana, Dept. of Health and Hospitals within 3 years.

Normal Promotion Path from this Class:

Operations and Maintenance Manager or any higher class for which

eligible or qualified

Physical Requirements: Position may require moderate to extensive stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions, along with some combination of climbing and balancing; and may be subject to sitting for prolonged periods of time at a keyboard or workstation. Position requires abilities to consistently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, 50 pounds frequently and 100 pounds occasionally.

Work Environment: Work is performed outdoors and/or indoors with exposure to noise, dirt, grease, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, fumes, animals, insects, chemicals, treated/untreated sewer, treated/untreated water, inclement weather, machinery with moving parts requiring use ofprotectivedevices and computer screens.
