Job Description: & Qualifications

Electrical Distribution Harness Engineer (FSS design)

  • Manage 3D routing and package CAD layout activity

  • Support Logical and physical schematic development

  • Utilize best design for manufacturing, assembly, and failure mode avoidance practices

  • Create and maintain program specific foundation documents

  • Direct manufacturing print development, sign-off, and release

  • Create and maintain harness family complexity

  • Direct and maintain installation illustrations

  • Maintain design version control

  • Manage component and harness part delivery

  • Perform master harness assessment and part sign-off

  • Manage manufacturing supplier tooling development, DV/PV, PPAP

  • Support vehicle assembly plant builds on-site

  • Address vehicle assembly issues, make necessary design changes

  • Review pre-production vehicles for potential campaignable warranty impact. Raise and resolve AIMS

Required Qualifications:

  • BSME or BSEE
  • 3 years of wiring experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Functional knowledge of vehicle electrical system or functional knowledge of vehicle wiring system

  • Working knowledge of vehicle development process (GPDS), change control process (WERS), and launch experience

  • Prefer wiring or electrical systems experience

VIEW JOBS 11/17/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-02-15T00:00 Job Description & Qualifications Position Description/Overview: As a member of the Motor Design Team in the Electrified Powertrain Engineering division of Ford Motor Company, you will be part of a highly skilled team driven to design and engineer best-in-class electric machines for Ford's electrified vehicles. You will be involved in the product development from the ground up until vehicle implementation and have the opportunity to be involved in the design, analysis, and validation of Ford's electric machines. Responsibilities: * Develop and deliver best-in-class electric machines designs for Ford's electrified vehicles. * Perform electromagnetic CAE analysis and deliver predicted performance for electrified vehicle traction motors. * Develop state-of-the-art CAE analysis methods to accurately predict electric machine performance. * Develop advanced electric machine design algorithms to efficiently create new designs. * Study, invent, and implement new electric machine technology. * Develop physical test methods and work with testing team to validate machine attributes via prototypes. * Work with mechanical design engineers and guide CAD designers to develop 3D models and prints. * Work with transmission design team to integrate machines into transmissions. Job Requirements: Basic Qualifications * Ph.D.in Electrical Engineering * 3+ years of electromagnetic analysis experience (academic OR professional) with CAE tools (such as ANSYS/Maxwell, JMAG, etc.) * 3+ years of experience (academic OR professional) designing electric machines for inverter-driven applications. Preferred Qualifications: * Strong technical understanding of electric machine physics, modeling, and technology highly preferred * Experience with automotive electrified applications. * Good understanding of electric machine manufacturing. * Experience designing inverter-driven IPM, Induction, and Switched Reluctance electric machines. * Proficient coding skills with preference for MATLAB experience. * Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks. * Good technical communication skills.
