Position Summary:

Execute electrical design for custom automation equipment such as robot systems, and weld fixtures/tooling. Collaborate and support departments and individuals throughout design and production stages. Ensure and maintain safety and quality of electrical systems in order to assist in delivering the best product to customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Take initiative to meet challenging project timelines and hour budgets;

  • Provide the following design needs: electrical schematics, parts lists, control panel and operator station layouts and network/Fieldbus topology;

  • Define electrical Bill of Materials for projects assigned and set demand for items in Epicor;

  • Control (PLC and HMI) programming / troubleshooting;

  • Assist in complex system start-up, de-bug and final equipment maturation;

  • Ability to act as engineering lead, designer and programmer for small-scale projects;

  • Provide technical assistance to estimating, sales, production and service as required;

  • Assist in resolving issues discovered / encountered during system build, debug and shipping;

  • Provide assistance to other departments (i.e., service, shop, etc.) as required;

  • Assist in compiling documentation for service manuals;

  • Assist in field installation when necessary;

  • Ensure that product, as designed, is in conformance with Lincoln Electric Automation quote and customer purchase order;

  • Update design package to reflect "as built" configuration of any critical item;

  • Effectively collaborate with machine builders, management and support functions;

  • Ensure system schematics are updated to as-build conditions;

  • Assist in field start-up and customer training when necessary;

  • Assist in-house customer service support (i.e., training, phone, service calls, etc.);

  • Uphold company quality objectives and play an active role in reaching continuous improvement objectives; and

  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience / Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Electro-Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent; or Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science; or equivalent with experience will be considered;

  • High attention to detail and quality;

  • Able to plan and execute daily and weekly scheduled tasks;

  • Able to keep work area clean and organized;

  • Able to follow directions from peers within the integration department;

  • Excellent team player with organizational and time management skills;

  • Safely operate fork trucks and overhead cranes;

  • Machine programming (PLC/HMI) experience

  • Rockwell, GE;
  • Safety system programming and troubleshooting experience;

  • Network programming and troubleshooting experience;

  • Experience in robotic welding (i.e., MIG, TIG, laser, spot) preferred;

Nonessential Skills and Experience:

  • Safety standards; OSHA, ANSI, RIA, ISO.

Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S):

  • Understand the Company's EH&S Policy and how it relates to this job;

  • Be aware of OSHA & EPA laws and regulations as well as company rules and policies that pertain to this job;

  • Work in a safe and environmentally friendly manner and observe all company EH&S procedures;

  • Immediately notify the supervisor if there is any safety hazard, any equipment not operating correctly or if there are any questions regarding EH&S procedures; and

  • Attend required EH&S training.

Be able to climb ladders; lift hand tools approx. 1-15 lbs. in weight to complete machine assembly, parts up to 50 lbs. Repetition with activity. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

  • Work environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate; temperature in the assembly area may fluctuate with the seasons as the production area is not air conditioned.
