PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

Responsible for electric plant analysis products, such as power systems analysis, fault current analysis, circuit breaker coordination, electric plant stability analysis, voltage drop analysis, and Battery sizing, and DC load flow analysis. Need an understanding of electrical components, digital-based components used in power systems, power plant operations, and power system analysis.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Perform modeling of plant primary electrical equipment (480V- 600kV)Perform load flow analysis of plant primary electrical equipment (480V- 600kV)

  • Perform fault current analysis and coordination studies for plant primary electrical equipment (120V- 600kV)

  • Perform arc-flash studies for plant equipment

  • Perform modeling of plant 125/250 VDC equipment

Perform load flow analysis of plant 125/250 VDC equipment

Perform Battery sizing calculations

  • Develop protective relay setpoints for Generators, Transformers, Motors, Buses, and other major plant equipment.Modeling motors and performing transient analysis for plant equipment.

  • Use of software tools to perform above mentioned analyses (e.g. ETap)

  • Ensure that electrical engineering analysis, troubleshooting, and studies are conducted according to IEEE and NFPA standards

  • Occasionally work in the field assisting on shut-downs, startups and maintenance projects.

  • Work with staff on the estimating and bidding of new projects

POSITION SCOPE

Possesses specialty skills and performs advanced tasks independently with minimal supervisory review. Performs engineering tasks independently and actively imparts knowledge to others.

Higher level of accountability than an Engineer 2B. Must be able to manage and implement engineering analysis and technical programs. Has wide latitude to make technical decisions within accountabilities.


Department Specific Roles/

Responsibilities:

Plant Engineering

Support development of complex troubleshooting plans in support of plant operations. Monitor, assess and improve the performance and reliability of plant systems and components.

Utilize system indicators to monitor equipment performance or degradation. Identify and pursue material condition improvements, including predictive and performance centered maintenance optimization. Support engineering functions.

Design Engineering

Defend the plant design and licensing basis. Preparation and approval of design outputs and plant changes in accordance with approved processes and design requirements.

Support installation and testing of plant systems and components and facility changes. Ensure the plant's physical and functional characteristics are accurately reflected in the plant documents. Perform engineering analysis to support plant changes.

Programs Engineering

Monitor, enhance, and implement technical programs. Identify, schedule and oversee code and regulatory inspections per technical program requirements.

Support field execution of programmatic inspections. Prepare required analysis and program documents to support inspection scopes.

Engineering Services

Support development of engineering budgets, business planning and projects. Support configuration control of engineering records (calculations, design changes). Support engineering programs and functions. Support engineering department scheduling, equipment databases and corrective action program.

NOAD

Analyze issues involved with corrective and predictive maintenance on process computer and control systems, implement improvements as required. Analyze issues involved with corrective and predictive maintenance on protective relays and associated circuits.

Implement improvements as required. Analyze issues involved with corrective and predictive maintenance on power instruments, implement improvements as required. Analyze issues involved with corrective and predictive maintenance on exciters and voltage regulator equipment, implement improvements as required.

Perform Electrical Construction testing for modifications and new installations of electrical equipment and associated circuits. Provide technical expertise on troubleshooting electrical equipment. Provide technical expertise on maintaining, improving and troubleshooting generators, voltage regulators and motors.

Dry Cask Storage

Subject matter expert on the design bases of dry cask storage (DCS) systems. Applies fleet configuration control processes to DCS activities.

Prepares / reviews documents required by 10CFR72 regulations. Supports common resolutions to fleet DCS issues and develops resolution for plant-specific issues. Participates in oversight / audits of vendor engineering and fabrication activities.

Safety Analysis Support

Maintains appropriate level of knowledge of safety analyses and methodologies. Provides interface function between corporate Engineering Safety Analysis and the site.

Reviews design and licensing basis documents to support plant changes. Performs tasks that support Engineering Safety Analysis areas of responsibility, including development of fuel reload and safety analysis input parameter listings.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • B. S. in Electrical Engineering or Licensed Professional Engineer and 5 years' engineering experience
  • 5 or more years' related engineering experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current or prior nuclear power plant experience

  • Professional Engineer Registration

  • Advanced technical degree or related coursework

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION Responsible for acting as a Lead Responsible Engineer (LRE) and performing minor mechanical analysis products, such as piping system analysis, simple heat exchanger analysis, fluid hydraulic calculations etc... Need an understanding of mechanical components and their interface with structural and electrical/I&C (including digital) components used in power systems and power plant operations. The individual should also have basic project management experience including working on and coordinating team projects, interfacing between multiple departments and contractor/vendors, and developing and controlling a project budget and schedule. PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES . * Develop budget estimates for performing system designs (coordinating single or multiple vendor products into a new or existing plant system). * Identify and make risk assessments to ensure measures are put in place such that designs are implemented properly. * Coordinate design team input, stakeholder design review meetings, and reviews of technical products. * Oversee contractor design work and ensure contract design deliverables meet design requirements. * Perform rigorous reviews of technical products to ensure quality. * Prepare mechanical specifications for purchases of materials or equipment. * Possess a working knowledge of mechanical standards and regulatory guidance applicable to the commercial nuclear power industry (ASME/ANSI). * Develop design requirements and perform design basis calculations. * Read and interpret P&ID, schematic, and isometric drawings. * Utilize specialized component knowledge (e.g. pumps, valves, heat exchangers, etc.). * Understand license basis considerations (UFSAR, Technical Specifications) and regulatory requirements as they intersect with plant systems. * Field installation support and troubleshooting. * Familiarity with NFPA rules and regulations a plus. * Assisting on shut-downs, startups and maintenance projects. * Review/manage project schedules and resources to ensure products are properly developed and projects remain within budget while maintaining accountability for the quality, accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of work * Obtain engineering qualifications and complete training as assigned to maintain qualification. * Obtain qualification and maintain all requirements for assigned ERO (Emergency Response Organization) role, including mandatory on-call rotations POSITION SCOPE Department Specific Roles/Responsibilities: Design Engineering Defend the plant design and licensing basis.
