Our Engineering team at Live Wire Labs has an opening for an Electrical Design Engineer

  • EV Architecture role. This open position requires a relentless drive to succeed while working in an efficient, dynamic and agile systems focused engineering environment. This engineer will be responsible for on-vehicle electrical system specification and functional interactions. Also, this individual will be responsible for designing comprehensive test specifications to ensure correct system operation. Technical skills related to performance on-bench and on-vehicle testing is required.

This is what you'll do:

  • Formulate system level requirements based on solid foundation of H-D owned requirements

  • Work with component owners and design engineers to define, develop, and execute hardware-in-the-loop (HiL) tests for H-D electronic control units (ECUs)

  • Perform system level testing on physical motor or motorcycle chassis dyno to verify system interactions and fault responses

  • Review requirements at the vehicle, system and component levels

  • Work extensively with CAN, analog and digital based control systems

  • Understand the workflow and provide evidence to support ISO 26262 functional safety work products

  • Leverage test case input and output vectors from various other time-based sources

Education Required:

This position requires a bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering

Experience Required:

We're looking for someone with a minimum of 3 years of related experience. In addition, the successful candidate will have demonstrated the following:

  • Experience in system level engineering, specific to EVs.

  • Proficiency with a test software platform

  • NI, dSpace based, Python, or equivalent.
  • Experience with hands-on testing of high voltage components.

  • Familiarity with vehicle communications protocols (CAN, LIN, UDS, CCP)

  • Experience or knowledge in software development process associated with automotive type embedded systems
