Requirements

Under general supervision, with some latitude for un-reviewed action, plans and designs electrical & mechanical equipment, as approved for product development programs. May provide technical guidance and assistance to other Cornell Engineers, Technicians, Drafters and Sales personnel by performing duties outlined below.

Essential duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Develop web applications including user interface design for desktop and mobile devices.
  • Identify and troubleshoot software development issues.
  • Manage new/existing customer activations and setups.
  • Integration of IIOT devices with ERP software such as Epicor or SAP.
  • Integration of sensors including (pressure transducers, flow meters, vibration accelerometers, level sensors, etc.) with IIOT devices.
  • Integration of Modbus, CANbus, & Ethernet IP equipment with IIOT devices.
  • Ability to perform intermediate to expert level wiring, soldering, etc.
  • Create part numbers and navigate Solidworks 3D software. Expertise in Solidworks wire routing & PCB design.
  • Programming, excel VBA, and software development.
  • Design, schedule, and perform all required product testing and evaluation of results.
  • Develop project proposals including costs, economic project values and schedules.
  • Investigate to determine causes of reported field problems with products, including warranty requests for failed products. This will require travel in some cases.
  • Knowledgeable of product lines, marketplace requirements, customer trends, and applicable industry standards.
  • Provide dealer, end user, and sales staff training in product application and maintenance.
  • Provide technical support to other departments, including sales and manufacturing: field troubleshooting, product application, and value engineering and problem solving.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

May direct Drafters and Engineering Technicians. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering or related fields and 1-5 years industry experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

FE/EIT (Fundamentals of Engineering) preferred

Formal Solidworks training/certificates preferred

Makes decisions on engineering problems and methods having an important effect on major company programs and customer's needs. Four to eight years of hands-on engineering or product design is required. 4. Four or more years experience in a high volume, manufacturing environment is preferred. Required Qualifications: 1. Working knowledge of CAD programs – preferably NX 2. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. 3. Working knowledge of WARN Quality Tools (SPC, GDT, FMEA, DFA/M, etc.). 4. Working knowledge of FEA (finite element analysis) preferred. 5. Working knowledge of various rapid prototyping techniques preferred. 6. Ability to work with minimal supervision. 7. Ability to work collaboratively and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, customers, visitors. 8. Ability to effectively problem-solve. 9. Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills. 10. Ability to facilitate activities necessary to a project's completion. 11.
