You build. You DESIGN. From building printed circuit board layouts to working with various equipment (multimeters, power supplies, oscilloscopes and more), you will work in a collaborative team environment and work on various projects.Our Automotive OEM Engineering group is looking for a full-time Design Engineer 2 to join their team at our headquarters in Olathe, Kansas (a beautiful suburb of Kansas City). In this role, youll be responsible for performing moderately complex schematic design, PCB layout, troubleshooting and debugging, using established design standards and procedures.

Other essential functions include: Create self-checking test cases to be used on the target hardware or simulation Collaborate and add value through participation in design reviews, providing comments and suggestions on design aspects Design test boards and circuit modifications to test design improvements Find technical root cause and suggest corrective action for given problems using sound problem solving techniques Source and analyze appropriate components to meet electrical engineering design needs Work with the factory team to understand design impacts on manufacturability Provide reliable solutions to a variety of problems using sound problem solving techniques Estimate level of effort, evaluate new options of similar technology, offer suggestions to improve processes, and provide comments on some electrical design aspects Serve as a mentor to less experienced design engineers Use good communication skills Qualified candidates will possess a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or related field AND a minimum of 1-year relevant experience, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Other requirements include: Demonstrated ability with application of design standards and procedures to develop moderately complex analog, digital and/or RF designs including simulations, schematics, PCB layouts and evaluation

Garmin's Aviation group is seeking an Antenna Design Engineer to provide technical support and antenna solutions for complex products that goes on aircrafts. As an Antenna Hardware Engineer, you will be part of our product design team building designing and developing Antennas that interfaces with avionics on aircrafts. Ideal candidate will have a solid RF and Antenna design background and experience designing and building circuits and antennas across different frequency bands on products spanning VHF to X-band. As an Antenna Design Engineer, your responsibilities include: Design antennas for multiple RF products operating in various frequency bands – VHF, UHF, L-band, C band and higher. Contribute to advanced research on new antenna solutions suitable for Garmin products Design, debug, and test Radio Frequency (RF) and Analog Circuits (power amplifier, low-noise amplifier and filter design) Prepare or direct preparation of product layouts, detailed drawings and schematics May perform as a technical leader or Project Engineer for small projects or sub projects as part of a greater project, following established procedures Utilize antenna simulations tools and test equipment to formulate and test antenna design Antenna prototyping and validation through relevant measurements Source and analyze appropriate components to meet electrical engineering design needs Collaborate with Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, Software Engineering and Manufacturing to ensure robust designs and appropriate testability Analyze test data and reports to determine if the proposed design meets functional and performance specifications Support certification activities on aircrafts and manufacturing.Qualifications Master’s of Science Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering specializing in RF or Electromagnetics, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule) Research experience including designing antennas for RF products covering various frequency bands.
