Who You Are

You're a strong problem solver who loves digging into the details to fully understand what is going on. You have run DOE's and done the statistics to make well informed decisions. You like getting your hands dirty and want to be the one disassembling a problem to find out what is broken and how to fix it. You want to work on a project where you can see the fruits of your labor come to life and enjoy getting to see the finished product on the shelves of major retailers around the globe. You'll also have:

  • BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering

  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience preferred

  • PLC programming skills with Allen Bradley, GE, and Omron

  • Servo programming skills with Allen Bradley Compumotor, and GE-DSM

  • Application and programming skills with DC, AC, Stepper, and Servo drives

  • Programming skills with PanelMate's and Allen Bradley OITs

  • Design and programming skills with vision systems

  • Electrical design with AutoCad

  • Computer networks using Ethernet, Genius, ControlNet, DeviceNet, and Profibus

  • Knowledge in the development of PC and industrial network architectures

  • Extensive knowledge of machine controls systems and robotics

  • Knowledge of industrial electrical systems

  • Knowledge with NFPA79, NFPA70E, NEC codes

  • Knowledge of Word, Excel, MS Power Point required

  • Strong written and oral communication skills required

  • Project management experience

  • Independent worker (must be able to assign and complete assignments independently)

What You'll Do

The Electrical Controls Engineer's responsibility is to provide electrical engineering support for Plant production activities. Responsibilities include developing electrical systems and processes to produce products in tape rule manufacturing and/or TK knife blade manufacturing. Additional responsibilities include control system upgrades and integrations to the existing production lines; also managing control systems on new and existing equipment. Specifically, you'll:

  • Be responsible for control systems on new and existing production equipment.

  • Act as Project Manager on new production equipment purchases, which may include initial specification through implementation on manufacturing floor.

  • Responsible for managing electrical and control systems design, implementation, and integration.

  • Work with designated managers to implement electrical projects that will meet product requirements and specifications for new product development and existing product lines.

  • Responsible for electrical component selection.

  • Create, standardize, and/or maintain all electrical engineering documentation efforts associated with designs.

  • Work with Quality Assurance to ensure conformance to ISO standards.

  • Support all building lighting and power distribution projects.

  • Support Union Trade electricians in diagnosing electrical and system control failures.

  • Comply with all Plant Environmental, Health and Safety policies and Environmental and OSHA regulatory requirements.

Intelligent Automation Solutions (IAS), currently consisting of Rapid (aka Robotic) Process Automation (RPA), Optical Character Recognition (OCR), Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a component of Intelligent Automation Solutions (IAS) to enable digital operations & activities at SBD. The strategy for IAS is to mature a Center of Excellence (CoE), to centralize key functions, standardize and optimize processes, scale automation and technology within the organization, strengthen governance, and achieve the global long-term vision. This position will report directly to the Intelligent Automation Solutions Sr. Manager of Governance and Controls and will have a key role in the project intake process. This will include supporting new idea generation, performing initial customer outreach for submitted opportunities, and being involved in marketing efforts to expand the reach of the IAS team. In addition, this position will be responsible for liaising with Federated automation teams throughout Stanley Black & Decker, collaborating regularly with these developers to ensure compliance to the IAS Policies and Procedures, as well as members of the IAS Governance & Controls team, and IT Support, to report out on Federated project statuses, risks and issues. What You'll Do As an IAS Senior Analyst- Governance & Controls, you'll be a part of our Corporate team located remotely. You'll get to: * Manage upfront project intake process by monitoring the Bot Tracker for new projects, performing initial outreach on submitted opportunities, and setting up meetings with BU SMEs and other stakeholders, as needed, to review completed Initial Process Assessments * Support Governance reviews and project assignment process based on knowledge of proposed automation, its complexity and requirements, as well as team skill set and capacity * Maintain a growing knowledge of completed automations to support in the expansion efforts and new idea generation * Work cross-functionally with Federated developers and associated stakeholders to monitor progress of Federated projects and ensure their timely execution * Understand IAS Governance Policies & Procedures to be able to provide support and guidance to Federated developers * Regularly review project pipeline of Federated Team(s) to understand capacity and demand forecasts * Monitor and audit adherence to Governance Policies & Procedures.
