Electrical Controls Engineer

Responsible for the conceptual design, component specification, system hardware design and programming. Will work closely with other engineers and technical staff. Responsibilities also include providing engineering support for field service technicians and providing technical training at client facilities as needed. Supports the existing products and work within the constraints of existing methods and standards. Approximately 20% domestic travel is required, international travel is a possibility.

Responsibilities:

• Requires the ability to apply the principles of electrical and electronic theory and related experience to design, program and troubleshoot state of the art packaging machinery.

• Knowledge to read and troubleshoot ladder logic within motion controls. including programming of servo drives (AB).

• Must have design problem solving skills and be able to work in a team environment.

• Travel to customer locations to assist in software or hardware repair or installations. Amount of travel approx. 20%

• Create wiring schematic, program diagrams, and complete bill of materials.

• Strong communication skills.

• Works well within a team environment but can also be self-directed when required.

• Strong time management skills.

• Attention to detail and pride in work.

• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience in capital equipment design and service.

• 5-10 years of related electrical design experience.

• Proficient in the use of CAD software for electrical design documentation utilizing SolidWorks Electrical, AutoCAD or similar system.

• Demonstrated experience in the design of Stepper motor, Servo, and touch screen controlled capital equipment systems or machinery. Specific experience in the Packaging industry a plus.

• Former Allen Bradley PLC experience preferred.

• Good organization, communication, analytical and project management skills. Good verbal and written skills utilizing office software (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

• Valid drivers license and ability to travel, up to 20%, including internationally
