King County Metro Transit Facilities has an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Constructor Lead.
The Electrical Constructor Lead will be responsible for planning and overseeing the work of electrician constructors engaged in the maintenance and repair of electrical systems and machines on transit facilities including the maintenance and repair of substation transformers, switchgear, rectifiers and relays.
The ideal candidate for this position will be able to communicate effectively with a diverse employee work group, proactively solve problems that impact service delivery, and encourage a safety culture while inspiring high standards of customer service excellence, as well as the ability to motivate employees through building respect and trust.
This recruitment will immediately fill up to one (1) Career Service position, and may also be used to create an eligibility pool for future Career Service, as well as any fully-benefitted Term-Limited Temporary and/or Special Duty Assignments, valid up to 12 months or until exhausted and at the discretion of the hiring authority.
Interviews are anticipated to occur during the week of May 13 through May 17, 2024, but are subject to change.

Job Duties

As the Electrical Constructor Lead, you will:
Plan and supervise the maintenance, testing, and repair of fire systems and all associated fire systems.
Prepare requisitions for and ensure proper storage of tools, materials, equipment and supplies used in electrical work.
Maintain and update electronic files and records of systematic preventative maintenance and repairs of fire systems. Will approve and submit appropriate reports to regulatory agencies.
Instruct workers in the safe use of tools and materials and in appropriate repair procedures.
Respond to emergency calls for repairs made during non-working hours, as necessary.
Prepare daily time sheets for work crew members.
Will lead others within the same trade and/or utility workers, laborers and/or helpers for specific projects.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
Minimum Qualifications:
NICET 2 Fire License
Seattle Fire Department Fire and Life Safety certificate or the ability to obtain within six (6) months of employment
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
Skill in working with a variety of individuals from diverse backgrounds
Ability to work independently or as part of a team; maintain a standardized work pace
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
Desirable Qualifications:
One year of professional work experience in a leadership or supervisory capacity
Knowledge of Washington State Confined Space Guidelines
Knowledge of National Electrical Codes (NEC)
Knowledge of trade terminology and procedures
Knowledge of the principles of electrical distribution and generation systems
Knowledge of electrical troubleshooting and diagnosis
Knowledge of electrical test equipment
Knowledge of PLC/s motors and controls
Knowledge of preventive maintenance
Troubleshooting skills
Skilled in running conduit and installing wire
Strong working knowledge of computers and computerized test equipment
Necessary Special Requirements:
Valid driver's license with acceptable driving history or the ability to obtain a WA state license within 30 days of hire.

Work Schedule
The work week is normally 40 hours, Monday through Friday. Alternative work schedules may be possible. This position is not exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act, and is therefore eligible for overtime pay as approved by supervisor.
Work Location: This position report to the King County Power Distribution headquarters, located at 2255 4th Avenue S; Seattle, WA 98134.
