Currently we are seeking an Electrical Commissioning Technician for our Atlanta or Baltimore office. The successful candidate will apply an intensive and diversified knowledge of complete electrical infrastructure start-up testing component commissioning and integrated systems testing. They will need to make decisions independently on methods and procedures, represent the organization to resolve important issues and be capable of planning and coordinating work with contractor professionals in the field. Work at this level will require mission critical facility engineering or commissioning experience.


  • Participates in all phases of commissioning projects which may include a variety of complex features, including planning, scheduling, and coordination of work

  • Performs engineering design reviews, prepare commissioning scripts and reports, direct client-site testing and manage the training of on-site staff

  • Prepares equipment pre-start-up and start-up procedures; Development of standard operating procedures (SOP's) and Methods of Procedures (MOPs); Comprehensive Commissioning documentation

  • Prepares commissioning test procedures and reports

  • Develops and maintains commissioning logs, equipment checklists, and other tools to track commissioning projects

  • Prepares comprehensive reports; recommendations for optimizing building operations, functional checklists, list of deficiencies, equipment operation and maintenance manuals

  • Reviews design criteria, specifications, drawings, equipment submittal, and other documentation pertinent to commissioning

  • Participates in commissioning activity meetings

  • Interfaces with construction contractors, vendors, and testing technicians

  • Conducts tests and compile all testing procedure results

  • Integrates system testing, load Bank Testing, compilation of all testing procedure results

  • Develops and administers functional tests for various building MEP systems, such as: HVAC air and water distribution systems, air handling units, pumps, cooling towers, chillers, boilers, UPS, Generator, Switchgears Power Distribution Units


  • Minimum 2 years of experience in an engineering service delivery organization/and or consulting /design environment with proven work-related experience in MEP systems

  • Data Center / Mission Critical Experience is preferred

  • Previous experience working on a mission critical facility construction site a plus

  • Technical/Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, or accredited college or university a plus

  • Licensed PE or EIT in Electrical Discipline a plus

  • LEED AP accreditation a plus

  • CXA, AABC, ACG certification desired

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal (this role requires heavy amount of writing, documentation, and client interaction)

  • High competency in technical writing, systems development and utilization

  • Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, AutoCAD

  • Extensive knowledge of MEP systems and controls design, installation and operation a plus

  • This position will require domestic and may require international travel

  • Proven track record of performing commissioning planning, functional testing, building performance investigation including re-commissioning, retro-commissioning and/or preventative maintenance and building system troubleshooting experience for new and existing buildings

The Role The Electrical Pre-Commissioning team bridges the gap between Electrical Installation and Controls Engineering (Commissioning). Responsibilities include the start-up, testing and troubleshooting of conveyor and machine systems. This includes electrical and network testing and validation, troubleshooting of hardwired and software based E-stop systems, set-up of PLC and loading of PLC programs and checkout of I/O. Installation is expanding the Electrical Pre-Commissioning team and has the need to add a Senior Supervisor to help grow and lead this important effort. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with experience leading teams of electrical technicians, controls technicians, or mechatronics technicians and who has a passion for quality, safety, and pays attention to detail. Role: * Work cross-functionally with project management, engineering, and supply chain. * Directly responsible for leading and managing crews that consist of a Site Supervisor, Foremen, and Technicians. Leading approximately 15-20 individuals across several projects. * Plan project work and ensure that Pre-Commissioning tasks are completed in a timely manner to meet scope, budget, and project turnover schedules (timing). * Identify resource needs and move personnel between sites to complete work, control budget, and maintain appropriate skill-set and headcount. * Have a passion for delivering quality. * Responsible for training and growth of individuals and team. * Accurately forecast cost and headcount requirements to completion. * Works within the group to help facilitate training and growth of individuals and team. * Troubleshoot and resolve semi-complex to complex problems. What We Are Looking For * Associate's degree or relevant technical certification is preferred * Experience leading small teams preferable. Typically manages multiple non- exempt level employees * Five years (minimum) experience in troubleshooting Electrical equipment. Successful candidate should have some working experience with material handling equipment. * Must be willing to travel on short notice and spend up to 100% of the time traveling. * Willingness to work weekends, holidays and off shifts. * Must be able to act calmly in stressful situations. * Demonstrates thorough knowledge of a technical or specialty area. * Must be able to write concise, clear, and complete trip reports in the time frame required according to Dematic procedures.
