Your Impact

The Electrical Collaborator is vital to the success of Thriven Design. At present, we are seeking to add electrical engineers with relevant experience who are interested in working with our electrical design team to find practical solutions when designing building systems from concept through construction completion for commercial, multi-family, educational, healthcare; new and retrofit projects. This is a full-time position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the creation of full electrical plans and specifications for permit and construction in commercial, multifamily residential and other types of buildings.

  • Design of lighting, power systems, and fire alarm systems for various building types.

  • Electrical single line diagram layouts.

  • Knowledge of building codes, and National Electrical Code.

  • Design layout utilizing ArchiCAD.

  • Site visits for electrical survey information and punch listing.

  • Coordination with other disciplines.

  • Assist in evaluating, selecting, specifying, and engineering certain electrical power, lighting, fire alarm and other low voltage systems for a project verifying compliance with applicable codes and internal engineering standards / practices.

  • As part of this work, the electrical engineer shall assure that all electrical design elements are properly coordinated with other building systems.

  • Prepare complete electrical construction plans and specifications, size and select electrical power distribution equipment, and detail the layout of equipment.

  • Coordinate the electrical design with the architects and engineering trades.

  • Coordinate with electric utilities for proper design, selection and location of metering equipment and switchgear.

  • Prepare and issue complete electrical installation bid packages.

  • Conduct on-site due-diligence assessments and prepare documentation of existing electrical equipment and installations with reuse or replace recommendations.

  • Conduct on-site inspections of new installations for conformance to plans and specifications.

Education And Experience

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • EIT Certificate OR PE license a definite plus, but not a requirement .
  • LEED accreditation is a definite plus, but not a requirement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands on design experience with various types of electrical systems.

  • Proficiency in either an ArchiCAD or AutoCAD environment.

  • Strong communication and writing skills.

  • Strong relational and communication skills with client, business, and coworkers.

  • Proven track record of success managing multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Professional technical writing skills.

  • Basic knowledge of Excel, Word, short circuit programs and lighting programs.
