We are seeking an Electrical Assembler for our Norfolk, VA location.
In this position, you will install, modify, test, repair, overhaul, and remove electronic and electrical equipment on U.S. Navy Ships and on an electrical workbench.
You will demonstrate success by:
Understanding written and verbal instruction, specifications, drawings and plans.
Assembling and disassembling and installing electrical/fiber cables and grounding straps.
Conducting electrical tests to determine proper functioning of shipboard units.
Recognize and understand the requirements of Standard Item 009-73 Shipboard electrical cable procedures and MIL-STD-2003 electrical plant.
Qualified and experience in cable/connector terminations and testing.
Proficient in using connector tools such as strippers, crimpers, insertion, and extraction tools.
Identify various connector types for power and data including MIL-C-28840, MIL-DTL-38999, cannon plugs, CAT 5 connectors, high-density connectors.
Effectively read SID Drawings, wire connection lists and parts lists.
Efficient in testing cables using OHM Meters, megger meters and properly document test results.
Must have a HS Diploma/GED.
Formal Electronic training from a technical school or Navy "C" School.
Minimum of six (6) years of shipboard electronic technician experience in either the U.S. Navy or a ship repair facility to include the maintenance, installation, troubleshooting and repair of electronic and electrical equipment.
Five (5) years of experience in the installation of electronic and electrical equipment.
Four (4) years of experience in the design, preparation and modification of engineering documents and drawings.
Ability to perform the following;
Proficient in the use of Test Equipment
Conduct J-Standard soldering
Conduct heliax cable termination
Cooper pin connectorization for cannon plugs, DB connectors, coaxial and triaxial cables.
Fiber optics (preferred), ST and mutli-pin connectors and Category 5 & 6 Ethernet termination and associated testing.
Connector certified and fiber optic certified (preferred) in accordance with NAVSEA Standard Items 009-73 and 009-123.
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Must have an active Secret Clearance at the time of hire.
