Job Expectations:

For the right candidate, this position offers the opportunity to oversee a significant portfolio of BC clients and projects in a geography that includes the Pacific Northwest and Rocky Mountain regions, Texas, Pacific Islands, and British Columbia. The candidate will have a broad range of responsibilities, which include developing relationships with new clients, maintaining a portfolio of sales prospects, extensive collaboration with and coordination between enterprise and local resources, mentoring of Client Service Managers (CSMs) on EIC services, identifying, recruiting and supervising other EIC sales and delivery managers, and oversight of EIC related projects. We are looking for candidates who are visionary and strategic thinkers and have a passion for developing new projects, meeting new people, and working on teams with other seasoned professionals to deliver outstanding quality work.

Primary responsibilities are described below but may be tailored to the unique credentials and strengths of the selected candidate.

Strategy and Business Planning

  • Sustain and grow our business in the West BU with an emphasis on the expansion of strategic EIC services, specifically:

  • Inform development of the West BU overall strategy and annual plan by defining EIC potential and identifying top opportunities, investments, and budget needs

  • Engage West CSMs, business leaders, and delivery team members to create and maintain alignment around the regional EIC business strategy

  • In all of the above, collaborate closely with:

  • EIC leaders in other Business Units (East, CA-Desert, Private Sector Enterprise) to advance BC's national EIC business and service offerings

  • National BC Utility Management leaders to align around BC's approach for Smart Utility services and ensure connectivity to the West EIC business strategy

  • National Design Services leaders to ensure delivery resources are aligned to support growth potential

Marketing and Client Service Management

  • Serve as Client Service Manager (CSM) for one or more of our most important clients as appropriate

  • Provide leadership in obtaining and developing new key clients each year in connection with our EIC strategy and annual planned targets

  • Drive regional and national EIC conference strategy and selectively attend and present at key conferences

  • Drive growth and maintenance of the West Region EIC opportunity funnel

  • Where appropriate, serve as pursuit leader or sponsor for one of more of the highest priority EIC pursuits in the West BU; assist others as needed.

Talent Development

  • Recruit top talent to implement strategy, business goals and project delivery

  • Collaborate closely with other EIC leadership to identify and mentor current and future PMs and CSMs for EIC projects

Project Delivery

  • Oversee and manage select EIC projects. This could be done by serving as the Project Manager, Technical Advisor or Technical Director.

  • Work with Design Services EIC Discipline partners to ensure regional BD and project delivery goals are incorporated into enterprise staff's priorities and resourcing plans and to guide creation of project teams, scopes and budgets

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • BS Engineering degree in discipline related to electrical or instrumentation and controls. This may include mechanical and chemical engineers with an automation or IT focus.

  • Minimum of 15 years' experience delivering EIC services to government, municipal, and/or industrial water and wastewater industries

  • Experience in client relationship development and maintenance, comfort with the sales and marketing elements of consulting

  • Demonstrated capability to present a professional image to clients and the public

  • Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering EIC projects

  • Effective oral and written communication with the social skills necessary to genuinely motivate and direct the staff to produce high quality work, to maintain high individual and group morale

  • Able to multi-task, enthusiastic, self-motivated, and work independently with a willingness to learn

  • Candidate should be a self-starter, results-oriented and be able to work under tight and pressured deadlines

  • Ability to travel to project/client locations as needed. Travel requirement is anticipated to be an average of 40% of the time.

  • P.E. or P.Eng. in either I&C or Electrical Engineering
