FUNCTION:
The Electrical and Controls Engineer is responsible for various engineering assignments including designing and improving electrical products and systems. This role collaborates with cross functional teams including production and quality, to ensure the successful translation of product designs into efficient and cost-effective manufacturing processes. Included are responsibilities for innovative approaches, value analysis, and cost reduction of new and existing products. The role demands a technical background, problem solving skills, and a focus on optimizing product quality and production efficiency.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Study and recommend techniques to improve existing products.
Maintain contact with suppliers and customers to discuss product issues.
Design, develop and evaluate new products.
Keep apprised of new developments, materials, or processes through trade publications and trade shows.
Test and inspect sample product prior to shipment to customers.
Retain and maintain adequate project files and reports.
Follow company and departmental processes and procedures.
Assist with necessary requirements with respect to various legal issues (patents, lawsuits, etc.).
Assist with the development and implementation of goals and plans of action consistent with company objectives.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The mental and physical requirements for successful performance of this job are:
Ability to communicate information, both verbally and written, so that others will understand.
Ability to understand the written and verbal ideas and information of others.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Ability to solve simple electrical engineering problems.
Ability to make simple engineering decisions.
Knowledgeable in CAD (PC & CREO)
Demonstrate knowledge of DFMEA process
Ability to create electrical engineering prints showing the design intent of the part and all relevant information.
Basic knowledge of electrical systems.
Basic Knowledge of computer programming in at least one language: Function Block, Java, C, C++, Python, etc.
Favorable if familiar with MATLAB, Simulink, or LabView
