Position Overview We are seeking an Electric Vehicle(EV) Control System Engineer - Energy Management & Operating Strategy Controls to join our team in Rochester Hills. The individual will be an integral member of the eMobility controls team developing & validating key vehicle control system requirements for both BEV and FCEV commercial vehicle applications.

This role is focused on the energy management & operating control algorithm development including subsystem coordination for the electric vehicle system controller. In addition, the individual shall support development of key functional safety control system requirements relating to battery electric vehicle and fuel cell system control. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Develop and validate software/controls requirements for BEV & Fuel Cell EV vehicle & subsystem control including: Propulsion operating mode control & deration strategy, Energy management optimization and hybrid operating strategy EV range estimation algorithm for BEV & FCEV Fuel cell subsystem control , interfaces & coordination Fuel cell closed-loop power/energy control including MIMO disturbance rejection. Hydrogen Storage System & Refueling strategy HSS subsystem interfaces & coordination Fuel cell related error & fault handling strategy including limp mode/fallback strategy Functional safety requirements per IS026262 focus fuel cell & hydrogen storage subsystems Validate vehicle and subsystem requirements to production software team.

Provided in the form of block diagrams, requirement documents / ICD's, and functional model based controls. VIEW JOBS 1/13/2022 12:00:00 AM 2022-04-13T00:00 Position Overview We are seeking a High Voltage Energy (Power) Management Engineer - Feature Owner for our battery electric vehicles (BEV) and fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEV) vehicles and long term strategy. This role will be based in our Rochester Hills location. As a feature owner you will be the single point technical expert on your assigned feature and will be responsible for the development of requirements, supplier and partner engagement, cascade to controls and software teams, verification of feature functionality, development of calibration "books" with the controls team, as well as being responsible for resolving related issues during vehicle level development, validation, and production. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Develop and cascade requirements in a requirements management tool. Execute validation, system management, FMEA, and diagnostic requirements for the management of energy in a BEV or FCEV. The management of energy can include, but is not limited to: - Balancing charging power available compared to battery demand - Computing regen power - Computing motoring power - Computing accessory loads - Load shedding at low SOCs - Regen limits at high SOCs - Power slew rate calculations - Ensuring all component requirements include power management features - Dynamic power limits and calibrations to optimize performance, range, drivability, and component durability Work with suppliers to "inhale" their functionality and develop, implement, and validate comprehensive state flow-like requirements showing all controlled and simulated component's loads and/or supply considering all driving, charging and "edge" use cases. Work with controls and software teams on feature implementation, resolving requirement or implementation issues on an electrical buck or related test property. Serve as the interface from the eMobility team to other Navistar interfaces and alliance partners to optimize implementation for Navistar-branded vehicles. Compare ideal implementation to supply base solutions, develop trade-offs and implement optimized solution. Work with calibration and controls team to develop calibratable variables that can modify the behavior of the feature during vehicle developmental activities.
