Description:
The Department of Regional Schools & Instructional Programs at Nassau BOCES is seeking an Electric Teacher (residential and commercial electrical trades) to instruct high school students in a career center setting. This includes chime systems and lighting fixtures, conductors, cables and boxes, electric heat, wiring lighting outlets, receptacles, switches and appliances.
This also involves instruction students on installing light duty electrical services, conduits. wire, recessed and fluorescent lighting, large service panels as well as motor control circuits, motors, electrical controls, transformers, switches and outlets. Responsibilities include the preparation of lesson plans, course outlines, trade analyses, establishment of shop safety programs, and the maintenance of tools and equipment, including shop layout planning. The candidate will be expected to manage a classroom environment appropriately and be responsible for meeting each learner's individual needs and evaluating their progress as part of record keeping duties. Technology will need to be used as part of the instruction to enhance the educational setting.
Requirements:
NYS Certification (Transitional A, Initial, Professional) in Construction Electric 7-12.
2+ years of verified experience as a tradesperson or teacher in the Electric areas of CTE and has relationships with professionals in the trade.
Experience with secondary student population and technology in the classroom are preferred.
Salary:
$64,646.21 - $76,884.01
