ELD INSTRUCTIONAL AIDE

Hiring Pay Range: $16.42 - $17.43 per hour (DOE)

Schedule: Hours split between THREE school locations

FTE .75 30 hours per week

Hours: Monday

• Friday 7:30 a.m.

• 1:30 p.m.

10 months/188 paid work days per year

Job Location: Orange Grove Middle School, Sunrise Elementary School & Manzanita Elementary School

Definition: Under general supervision of the ESL Coordinator performs work of moderate difficulty providing content area support to English Language Learners. Coordinates ELD student meetings, maintains files at school sites, trains and supports teachers with ELD state requirements.

Qualifications: High school diploma or GED; and one year of experience teaching English as a Second Language to children and/or adolescents preferred. Effective communication skills are a necessity, i.e., ability to relate well with children, school staff and parents.

Tasks:

Provide content area support to students whose primary language is not English.

Responsible for administering the AZELLA at school sites.

Maintain complete and accurate records for student progress at school sites.

Meet with ESL Coordinator, principals and teachers to review and document student progress.

Train classroom teachers in ELD procedures and required paperwork.

Coordinate ELD placement, schedules and paperwork with teachers, office staff and principals

Arrange ILLP meetings for ELL students at school sites.

Participate in IEP and SST meetings at school sites.

Maintain qualified scorer status for AZELLA Stages I-V writing through Pearson online training and qualification process.

Score written assessments and submit data to Pearson electronically and/or through mail.

Maintain databases and spreadsheets.

Maintain filing systems at school sites. Copy and distribute documents.

Establish and maintain constructive relationships with teachers, parents and other staff members at school sites.

Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software

Knowledge of Arizona ELD practices, rules and regulations

Skill in delivering established ELD curriculum

Skill in communicating effectively orally and in writing

Special Requirements:

Valid Arizona Driver's license and clear driving record.

Must possess or have the ability to obtain a Level I - IVPP Fingerprint Clearance card through Arizona Department of Public Safety.

CPR certificate and First Aid certificate are required within one (1) year of hire.
