ELA Teacher for At-Risk Students
JOB GOAL:
QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid Michigan Teacher's Certificate with a BA or BX endorsement
Minimum of 5 years of classroom teaching experience.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist with the identification of potential students requiring additional academic support
Follow the locally adopted curriculum guide(s) for the area(s) taught
Plan an appropriate instructional program to meet the needs of those students who require academic interventions
Work with the Literacy Coach in developing an instructional plan for the students
Accommodate for varied learning styles and developmental levels within the classroom/program
Assist in fostering a respect for diversity and a school culture of inclusion
Use the appropriate assessment tools and utilize assessment results to drive instruction
Evaluate student performance and share this information with the classroom teacher
Plan, prepare, teach, assess, adjust, re-teach, and re-assess to document student achievement results appropriately
Be knowledgeable in current theories and methodologies in all areas, specifically literacy, and to be confident in utilizing this knowledge for the benefit of the student
Attend staff development opportunities in the area of Literacy and to be willing to share the information with school staff
Consult with parents, colleagues, and other appropriate individuals or agencies concerned with student achievement, behavior, and development
Foster a school-to-home connection and relationship
Maintain individual student records, including assessment scores, and may include correspondence with parents, classroom teachers, and samples of student work
Comply with applicable local, state, and federal policies and procedures
Performs all other duties as directed by the Building Principal
