San Luis Coastal USD is recruiting for English Learner Aides, to fill a vacancy at Pacheco Elementary in San Luis Obispo, and to build an eligibility list for vacancies that may occur over a six month period. The current vacancy is for an assignment in a TK classroom, working 32.5 hours per week.

Future vacancies may be at any site in the District, and hours may vary. English Learner Aides assist a teacher, or teachers, with a variety of instructional support tasks for EL (English Learner) students in a school setting, and perform related duties as assigned. Requirements / Qualifications

This position requires some experience working with English Learners, the ability to fluently speak and write both English and Spanish, and graduation from High School (or the equivalent). Additionally, either 48 semester units of college are required OR a passing score on an NCLB exam which will be given by our District if needed. Finally, a resume and letter of recommendation must be included with your application, as well as your transcripts (if you have completed 48 semester units of college or more).   • NCLB Compliance (NCLB Compliance (Must submit ONE of the following: College transcript showing an AA degree or 48 semester units, OR a certificate showing a passing score on an NCLB Paraprofessional Exam. If you do not meet this requirement, but meet other screening criteria, you will be required to take the exam for this position.))

Comments and Other Information

PURPOSE: The purpose of this recruitment is to fill a current vacancy at Pacheco Elementary in San Luis Obispo, and to establish an eligibility list to fill vacancies that occur in the District over at six month period.

Hours, location, and work schedule may vary for future vacancies. Fingerprint and TB clearance will be required prior to starting work. Applications will be screened and evaluated for relevant knowledge, skills, abilities and experience on a job-related basis, as well as to ensure all required documents are attached.

Candidates who successfully pass screening and have submitted all required documents will proceed to an exam. Candidates who meet minimum requirements for experience but not education will be invited to take the NCLB exam. Candidates who meet eligibility requirements and pass the exam will be invited to oral board interviews, scheduled for July 16.

Candidates must pass oral board interviews with a score of 70 or higher to be added to the eligibility list. The top three (3) ranked candidates after the exam and oral board interviews will be invited to a hiring interview. SPECIAL NOTES: 1) Correctly filling out forms and following other instructions contained in this notice are part of the testing process. 2) Applicants with disabilities need to notify the Human Resources Office of any special needs so that adequate preparation may be made for their testing. 3) Veterans qualifying for the oral board examination may receive 5 additional points added to their final score if proof of discharge is submitted at time of oral board interview.

A "veteran" as used here means any person who served in the United States armed forces or National Guard in time of war or national emergency. 4) Eligibility lists are established for a period of six months.
