PURPOSE OF YOUR POSITION Performs diagnostic EKG and procedures. GENERAL INFORMATION Must possess a preference for working with people and technical equipment. Also the ability to communicate calmly with people under mental and physical stress. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Work requires very frequent walking to various areas of the hospital. Must be able to stand, stoop, lift and grab necessary items to attend to patient (51-80% of work time). Required to push/pull ventilators and other equipment weighing up to 60 lbs (6-20% of work time). Work requires motor coordination and finger dexterity to set up and position equipment. Work requires speech, hearing and sight capabilities to monitor patient. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS Work is performed in patient rooms with generally good working conditions. Subject to frequent distasteful patient related activities (21-50% of work time). Must be available to work weekend (6-20% of work time). Universal Precautions apply. QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or equivalent required. Candidates with prior experience in electrocardiography or satisfactory completion of on-the-job training preferred. Completion of training in electrocardiography and training in scanning of holter monitors. BLS certification required. Pennsylvania state police criminal record check, child abuse history clearance and an FBI criminal history check required. Work requires intermediate computer literacy skills and keyboard proficiency. Must also have experience working with clinical documentation systems and hospital information systems. Experience working with laboratory information systems and cardiology information systems preferred. Work requires basic skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and email. Work requires interpersonal skills to communicate with team members and a high level of social sensitivity when communicating with patients to explain procedures and/or tests. Must be compassionate, professional, and empathetic when handling patient complaints and concerns while remaining focused on providing a positive patient experience (21-50% of work time). Work requires analytical ability to monitor equipment and analyze rhythm strips. Must be able to integrate and interpret data from diverse sources to identify solutions. Independent judgment is frequently required to choose treatment plans and make decisions on Care Plan. Will be required to work alone and without immediate assistance (21-50% of work time). Work requires a high level of mental and visual focus requiring mental application and attention to detail. Work is performed under tight deadlines, must possess excellent time management and functional organizational skills to manage a variety of tasks in a short period of time (more than 80% of work time).
