Description

Position Summary

This position, is responsible for the diagnostic EKG testing, assembling traction as ordered, and cleaning equipment. In addition, the EKG/Traction employee is responsible for the ordering and billing of special equipment and maintaining departmental records.

This position has exposure to body fluids and communicable disease. Majority of time is spent standing, with frequent walking of short distances (up to 80% of work time). Frequent pushing of up to 95 lbs. (up to 30% of work time) and carrying/lifting of up to 20 lbs. (up to 10% of work time) is required. A variety of populations is served including neonate (up to 5% of work time), pediatrics (10%), adolescents (5%), adults (up to 60%) and geriatrics (up to 20%).

Essential Position Responsibilities

• The position requires good communication skills and the ability to operate standard office equipment. The position also requires familiarity with EKG machines usually obtained through the completion of basic dysrhythmia courses. The employee must be able to read and correctly interpret written and/or oral orders associated with EKGs, Knowledge of specialty beds, traction, SCD pumps, gathering and distributing IV pumps to the nursing floors.
