Technology Subject Matter Experts (SME's) use expertise and leadership gained through years of experience to deliver improvement within the manufacturing system. The duties vary widely between practicing safety leadership, troubleshooting, deliberate improvement projects, capital projects, equipment and process studies and audits.
The Construction Services group is part of the Technology Capital COE. The group supports the capital project delivery process (PDP) by focusing on constructability and construction. The Electrical Construction SME will be involved in multiple aspects of focus projects such as the implementation plan, constructability plan, contracting strategy, contractor selection, schedule development and risk assessment.
For all SME's, a key component of a Subject Matter Expert's job is to transfer knowledge and skills to capital project management and mill personnel to build on-site capability.
Electrical Construction position is accountable for delivering results on a wide range of projects, short and long-term, across our global capital system.
The SME must work well with varied teams and be able to quickly engage employees from all levels of the organization from executive to the shop floor, as well as influence vendors and contractors. Key customers are our primary manufacturing facilities.
Key interfaces are fellow Capital COE members, Technology Reliability SMEs, Mill Capital Engineering Managers / Engineers, Mill Maintenance & Engineering Managers and Regional Engineering resources.
This position functions as a construction expert in support of development and execution of capital projects anywhere in the company. The duties include but are not limited to the following:
Drive Improvement in project development for contracted labor productivity and quality.
Drive efficiency improvements through constructability input in engineering
Provide input to analyze contracted labor hours required for project estimates.
Contribute to, and deliver improving safety results
Rapidly and accurately diagnose and resolve construction issues, either onsite and or remotely
Ensure construction deliverables are achieved through progress tracking of man-hours and quantities
Ability to interface with and technically develop and mentor others within the area of expertise
Ability to drive results and self-manage priorities on multiple simultaneous projects
Interpersonal Savvy This position interacts with all levels of the company, across the cultures and languages within IP operations. The individual must adapt as the situation requires and maintain positive outcomes.

Functional / Technical Competencies
Advising project teams on constructability of capital projects during engineering development..
Assembling, installing, testing and commissioning the electrical power distribution, electric and electronic wiring of heavy industrial process equipment and instrumentation.
Pneumatic tubing systems for instrument systems or control valves
Codes requirements including but not limited to NEC, NFPA and IP Guidelines and Specifications
QA/QC and testing procedures for all electric and instrument system installation.
Labor productivity requirements to efficiently install Electrical or Instrument systems.
Labor staffing and man-hour requirement to efficiently complete Electrical or Instrument wiring systems
Has overall capability to assess constructability and lead construction phases of a capital project. Sizes of potential projects could vary from $10MM to $100MM+.
Works directly with contracted engineering and construction resources in the range of 100 to 1000 people depending on the project size
At least 10 to 20 years' experience in heavy industrial Electrical and Instrumentation construction or maintenance.
Supervisory or management experience in electrical or instrumentation construction.
Must possess and demonstrate capabilities and skills in leadership, organizational design and organizational development, communication, directing others, decision quality, negotiations, team building, and conflict management.
