DuPont's Transportation& Advanced Polymers is currently seeking a EH&S Technician to join our manufacturing site in Hemlock, MI. The site is in Hemlock, Michigan is 15 miles south of Midland, Michigan, near Interstate 75 and about a 2 hour drive north of Detroit. The facility employs about 210 people and manufactures silicones and silicone fabricated products that are used in healthcare applications worldwide. The DuPont Hemlock is a cGMP facility.
The Safety Technician works with site leadership to implement and improve site safety, health, and environmental programs. This position operates under direct supervision of the EH&S Site Leader and within established procedures to provide clerical, administrative and technical support to EH&S activities. The Safety Technician's work should promote safety awareness, understanding, and engagement to influence the safety culture towards an injury free workplace. The incumbent will promote DuPont Core Values by championing safety and motivating personnel to make safety a way of life. This position will provide leadership, guidance and hands on support to help assure compliance with applicable Site, Corporate, State and Federal safety and environmental regulations and requirements.
Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Provides operational guidance, coaching, and serve as a resource to all team members while championing best safety practices
Supports compliance to DOT 49CFR265.16, to include interaction with waste disposal contractors - DOT / Hazardous Waste Handling / Transportation
Supports elements of site Hazardous Communication program to maintain compliance with 29CFR1910.1200
Actively participates in site programs to maintain ISO14001 certification requirements
Collects and maintains field data to demonstrate compliance to Federal, State of Michigan and local regulatory requirements
Participate in Pre-Startup Safety Review (PSSR) process and champion execution
Operates as the Fire Safety Resource to execute program requirements such as: monitoring all fire safety equipment to insure inspections and maintenance procedures are executed per schedule
Lead or assist in the planning, execution, evaluation, and documentation of evacuation drills on all shifts as required.
Act as Field Contract Administrator as appropriate and collaborates with other contract administrators to assure contractor safety strategy is properly executed
Acts as training resource for various site EH&S programs. As such, will develop and deliver training as well as participate in the assessment of training effectivity
Partners with site leadership and Safety Team members to develop and maintain engaging safety communication rituals
Assist in the creation and evaluation of site EH&S inspection and audit Programs
Acts as an Incident Lead Investigator, champion's investigation best practices and provides leadership to the resolution of corrective actions.
May execute other duties in support of safety, health and environmental programs
The following are required:
High School Diploma/GED
At least 5 years of experience working in a manufacturing or similar environment
Must be proficient with basic math
Willing and able to perform the following physical demands: frequently required to talk or hear, occasionally required to stand, walk, and sit, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
Solid communication skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office (included Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
Able to work independently or in a group environment
Able to champion a Safety First! Culture
Able to present information, trainings, etc. to groups of people
