Requirements / Qualifications

SUMMARY: EHS TEACHER I & EHS TEACHER II Under general supervision of a Site Supervisor or Master Teacher, teach an assigned group of students using developmentally appropriate practices; create an environment in which three through five year old children can experiment, make choices, solve problems and share their experiences with others.

Plan and participate in parent education and parent involvement activities. Prepare and maintain accurate records. This position is included in the Head Start certificated bargaining unit and is subject to terms of the union agreement regarding membership.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Satisfactory results from pre-employment physical required.

EHS Teacher I Education and/or Training:

Associates Degree with 24 units in ECE/CD including core courses (3 units must be Infant Toddler Development), plus 16 general education units. Experience: One year experience in an instructional capacity in an early care and education program.

Credentials and/or Skills: Hold/qualify for a Child Development Teacher Permit or higher. EHS Teacher II Education and/or Training:

Associates Degree with 24 units in ECE/CD including core courses (3 units must be Infant-Toddler Development), plus 16 general education units, plus 3 administration units. Experience: Two years experience in an instructional capacity in an early care and education program Credentials and/or Skills: Hold/qualify for a Child Development Master Teacher Permit or higher.

Possess or obtain within 90 days of hire a Pediatric First Aid and CPR certificate. Knowledge of child growth and development and developmentally appropriate practice. Ability to plan, organize and supervise a preschool classroom; work effectively with individuals of diverse educational, socio-economic, and cultural backgrounds, and those with disabilities and special needs.

Ability to communicate orally and in writing. Proof of valid CA driver's license and minimum amount of liability insurance required by law. DMV H-6 printout required PLEASE SEE ATTACHED JOB DESCRIPTION FOR SPECIFIC POSITION REQUIREMENTS
