Overview
We are seeking a full-time Systems Effectiveness Specialist in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for developing auditing plans on the effectiveness of Garmin's environmental, health and safety management and compliance systems while leading cross-functional team(s) to develop gap analysis, identify process improvements, and align Garmin's management system to the constant changing business requirements.
Essential Functions
Lead/coordinate Garmin's internal audit plan, including evaluation, tracking and reporting of status for audits, findings and corrective actions
Advise functional areas in the implementation/maintenance of systems to ensure continued compliance and improvement
Review audit results and complete audit finding reports as required
Report findings/observations and issue Corrective Action Requests
Prepare/perform system/process audits utilizing established procedures and policies both individually and in cooperation with other audit team members
Cooperate with various functions to identify/implement system and process improvement opportunities to enhance organizational effectiveness
Team with functional representatives throughout the company to identify improvement opportunities, develop/implement corrective action plans, and monitor results
Prepare and publish management system procedures
Create/distribute operational performance reports as directed by management
Notify management of any conditions believed to be undesirable including conditions effecting; associates and property safety, associate discrimination, or any other disregard of company policies by other persons
Notify management of any departmental interface or requests that cannot be performed as requested without significantly impacting other assigned essential functions and other responsibilities
Provide reliable solutions to a variety of problems using sound problem solving techniques including identification/resolution of root cause analysis and corrective action for given problems and reconciliation of audit issues
Demonstrate broad understanding of Garmin's ISO, specifically ISO14001/ISO45001procedures and processes
Demonstrate sound business judgment in setting schedules, risk tasking and daily duties
Serve as a mentor to less experienced and volunteer auditors and shares information/ideas willingly
Exemplify Garmin's Mission, Vision, Values & Quality Policy, proactively work to improve Garmin's image/culture, and comply with all corporate/departmental policies in the performance of work/workplace activities
Maintain confidentiality of product and process specifications, performance analysis, and operational conditions
Maintain effective work areas where performing work or audits to provide for: operator safety, and assurance from product damage or contamination that could be caused by Electro Static Discharge (ESD), foreign materials, food or drinks
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Management, Operations, Engineering or a substantially similar quality or operations related field
Must possess a minimum of 4 years work experience in quality system auditing performing a role substantially similar to the essential functions of this job description
Must possess a minimum of 4 years experience in developing, implementing and following formal procedures and work instructions, relevant to Garmin's business needs
Must possess a minimum of 4 years work experience working with ISO14001/ISO45001 or similar standards
Must possess strong and proficient computer skills including MS Office applications
Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Driven problem solver with proven success in solving difficult problems with demonstrated ability to operate effectively within a team environment and work across functional/organizational boundaries
Must be positive, detail/quality oriented, organized, analytical, team oriented and a multi-tasker with the ability to prioritize and mange time in a fast paced, challenging environment with excellent follow-up skills and the ability to work proactively/effectively with minimal supervision
Desired Qualifications
American Society for Quality (ASQ) certified, Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), or equivalent Quality organization training
Experience with 6 sigma, 5S, Lean Manufacturing, or similar quality improvement tools
Experience working in an electronics manufacturing environment
Experience working in a FAA approved quality system
