EHS Specialist

Job Description Job Description Summary of position: This position will support the EHS Manager in implementing policies to ensure a safe and healthy environment at all locations.

Essential Functions: Supports in developing, implementation, and maintenance of ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 Ensures all sites comply with health, safety, and environmental programs within state and federal regulations. Develop and coordinate appropriate training programs for all associates on health, safety, and environmental topics, including those requested by state and federal agencies.

Conducts regular industrial hygiene, safety, and environmental audits to detect existing or potential hazards and regulatory violations and recommend corrective or preventive measures. Regular and frequent interaction with associates in the manufacturing areas. Proactive approach to hazard recognition and prevention.

Assist in the investigation of all accidents and ensure that proper reports are filed in a timely manner. Conduct “root Cause” analysis for accidents, injuries and near misses. Mentor and technical advisor to all departments to recommend safety devices, personal protective equipment, and other means to proactively reduce and/or eliminate the risk of injury.

Assist EHS Manager and HR in workers’ compensation case management, return to work programs, and maintain all OSHA required forms, logs, etc. Provide routine daily first aid treatment of work-related illnesses and injuries. Assist in coordinating with outside organizations, such as fire departments, emergency management agencies, and law enforcement.

Conducts regular benchmarking activities for best practices that should be implemented. Any and all other tasks assigned by management. Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor’s degree preferred Three to Five (3-5) years experience in manufacturing. CPR and First Aid certified Experience as an ISO 14001 and/or OHSAS 18001 Lead Auditor Hazardous materials experience Must be able to clearly and directly communicate, internally and externally, through reports, personally, by telephone, etc. Company Description Auto supplier manufacturing.
