Develops, implements and evaluates safety policies and procedures and may be involved in the compliance and ensurance of product EHS. Provides leadership and technical expertise in the development of strategies, programs and training to ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and company standards, improve safety and reduce/eliminate EHS related business risks. Interfaces with external EHS agencies. Partners with business/functional/DBS leaders on the development and implementation of action plans that drive closure of open issues and improvements resulting in improved safety performance and environmental controls.
Experience working in a LEAN or continual improvement environment and ability to apply continual improvement concepts to EHS excellence.
Directs, develops and delivers environmental health and safety training programs to ensure employee's knowledge, understanding and adherence to safety and environmental regulations pertaining to the operation of the facility.
Conduct regular walk-throughs (Gemba) of the plant to look for unsafe acts, conditions and to coach and mentor associates.
Ensures all EHS issues identified during internal/external audits have corrective actions implemented and communicated in a timely manner.
Develops, implement and maintain site-specific programs that comply corporate policy and programs.
Completes monthly safety reports and other EHS-related assignments as directed by Manager, EHS Director or Danaher Corporate.
Lead or participate in EHS related kaizen events to drive improvements.
Leads EHS management programs including cost control/reduction, energy, and accident prevention/reduction.
Facilitate and lead Plant Safety and sub-team committees.
Leads or participates in incident investigations, as needed, supporting root cause analysis methods.
Requires focuses on leading EHS indicators to drive long term improvement goals including human behavior focus.
Leads the site environmental programs including the air and NPDES permits, plus the hazardous and non-hazardous waste activities.
Education, Experience and Skills
Bachelors degree with a minimum of 3 years experience; OR, Masters degree with a minimum of 2 years experience
Certified Practitioner or Advanced Certified Practitioner in at least one DBS or Lean tool preferred (ie., 4E, PSP, or 5S)
Strong communication, presentation, training, analytical and organizational skills.
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Demonstrated proficiency in time and project management
Experience with GENSUITE or other EHS data management system experience preferred
