EHS Process Safety Specialist (1902624) Freeport, TX Where the Chemistry Happens We are seeking a professional like you to develop, implement, and manage process safety programs and systems at the site. In this role, you will drive effective risk review (e.g.

PHA, MOC, PSSR,) efforts on the site and support capital project process safety reviews. You will interface with regulatory and third-party agencies to drive sustainable solutions for compliance related topics and support Safe Work Procedures, Safety Training, Hazard Recognition, Accidents/Incident Investigations, Emergency Preparedness/Response, and General Safety Procedures and/or Programs. Additionally, you will support process safety excellence by helping to develop a Zero Loss of Containment Mindset and maintain audit compliance with BASF and regulatory standards and guidelines.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

You will use your skills and education to:

  • Serve as process safety support for safety reviews such as process hazard analyses, management of change, capital project reviews, and explosion protection document updates. Provide technical support and guidance to support operations and engineering in implementing sustainable process safety programs and culture through knowledge of process safety practices, PSM/RMP, BASF safety & engineering standards, and practical implementation methods.

    Serve as a resource for questions, participate in incident investigations, and support process safety initiatives such as process safety incident reduction. Conduct gap assessments to assess implementation of process safety programs and compliance in multiple units. Develop process safety knowledge throughout the organization by developing and delivering process safety training.

    Lead or support rollout of process safety changes, such as BASF or regulatory standard changes. Organize and plan programs such as gap assessments. Support KPI tracking, maintain EHS records / databases, and prepare reports.

    Qualifications Degree in Chemical Engineering or related discipline 5+ Years of relevant process safety or engineering experience in a chemical manufacturing environment Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work with employees and contractors within all levels of the organization Experience utilizing process safety processes (ex. coordinating MOCs, participating in incident investigations, participating in a PSM/RMP internal audit, developing/maintaining process safety information, participating in PHA) Operations or process engineering experience, especially in a PSM/RMP covered facility, is highly desirable Experience in the development and implementation of process safety programs is highly desirable Experience with HAZOP programs (PHA Works, PHA Pro, Stature) a plus Create Your Own Chemistry: What We Offer You Adding value to our customers begins with adding value to you. you@BASF is the suite of benefits, perks, programs and unique opportunities we offer to support youthe whole youin all stages of your life and career.
