Summary/Objective:

The EHS Manager is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the company's environmental, health, and safety programs including but not limited to: DOT, Sustainability, Environmental, and Industrial Hygiene. The EHS Manager will ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies, while cultivating a proactive safety culture and environmental responsibility within the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive EHS programs, policies, and procedures aligned with company objectives and regulatory requirements.

  • Establish EHS performance metrics and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance EHS outcomes to align with corporate EHS objectives.

  • Lead and develop the EHS team, including hiring, performance management, and professional development.

  • Design and deliver EHS training programs to educate team members on relevant EHS topics, including hazard recognition, safety procedures, and regulatory compliance.

  • Ensure training records are maintained and documentation is up-to-date and accessible.

  • Monitor and ensure compliance with local, state, federal, and internal EHS regulations and policies.

  • Manage regulatory inspections, audits, and reporting requirements.

  • Maintain necessary permits and ensure timely renewals.

  • Oversee incident reporting, investigations, and root cause analyses to identify corrective actions and prevent reoccurrence.

  • Track and trend incident data to identify areas for improvement and prioritize EHS initiatives.

  • Develop and implement risk assessments, job hazard analyses, and corrective actions to eliminate or minimize hazards.

  • Conduct regular workplace inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and non-compliances.

  • Facilitate and participate in all necessary EHS related activities to ensure compliance- including: emergency response, safety committees, and first responder training.

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily working indoors, office environment within a manufacturing environment.

  • Walking around the plant floor

  • Repetitive use of hands to operate computers, printers, and copiers.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in environmental, health, and safety, industrial hygiene, engineering, or a related field or equivalent mix of experience of education and professional experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in an EHS role.

Essential Functions:

  • Foster a positive safety culture and promote employee engagement in EHS initiatives.

  • Communicate EHS performance, initiatives, and regulatory updates to team members and leadership.

  • Develop and communicate a strategic vision for the company's EHS programs, ensuring alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements.

  • Act as a subject matter expert and advisor on EHS matters to senior leadership team, members, and other stakeholders.

  • Build and maintain relationships with regulatory agencies, industry associations, and EHS professionals to stay informed of emerging trends, best practices, and regulatory changes.

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to promote sustainable business practices and enhance the company's environmental reputation.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position may lead a team of EHS Coordinators.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a Team Member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is regularly required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time salary position.

Travel:

Travel is expected with this role, typically less than 30% and will be dependent on business needs.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Manufacturing experience
  • CSP certification or willing to obtain
  • ISO14001 and ISO 45001 experience

Must be able to pass EVerify.
